We’d like to wish everyone a Happy New Year! And what better way is there to spend it than to watch one of the creepiest and trippy holiday movies of all time…

Rudolph’s Shiny New Year

First he saved Christmas, this time he is in a race against (father) time to save New Years!

Writer Ed Brubaker, the man who killed Captain America, and artist Sean Phillips are teaming up with Marvel Comics for an interesting twist on the superhero genre with Incognito. The new series begins this week on January 2nd, and focuses on an ex-super villain who is in the Witness Protection program. I love the noir influenced art and intriguing lead character. The two preview pages below along with the core concept already have me hooked.

Tonight’s pick for TV Tonight moves directly into tomorrow and the New Year. What else could I have picked but Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve! Count down to the ball drop with Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest, and whatever pop stars are currently in the limelight. Stars at 11:30pm with an earlier version in primetime as listed below.

Before the ball drops there is (not surprising) not much new television.

  • NBC: Knight Rider (Action/80s Remake)

  • ABC: Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2009
  • NBC: New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly

  • FOX: New Year’s Eve Live

  • CBS: Late Show with David Letterman
  • NBC: New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly

Transformers 2 Photos

Empire and USA Today got their hands on a few new images from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

The new film, directed by Michael Bay, promises to have 40 different warring giant robots while the film has a mega budget of over 200 million dollars. In the new film, Optimus and the Autobots are forced to team up with the U.S. military after the Decepticons invade Earth in an attempt to capture Sam (Shia LaBeouf). Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, and John Turturro all return for explosion filled sequel.

John Grisham’s new novel, The Associate, hits stores in late January (you can pre-order it by clicking the above picture), but you can read the first two chapters now. EW has posted the first two chapters (click here for chapter 1 and here for chapter 2), and will be posting two more chapters over the next two weeks before the novel comes out.

The novel, which is Grisham’s 22nd novel, is already being adapted into a film by Paramount Pictures with Shia LaBeouf attached to star. Continue reading for the novel’s official plot description.

How in the world did I miss this casting tidbit? The one and only Jeff Goldblum is joining Law and Order: Criminal Intent. While I didn’t get into his 2007 television effort, Raines, I think Goldblum is an incredible talent and is a perfect fit for the Law and Order universe.

He’ll be portraying Zack Nichols, a cerebral and quirky detective who is paired with Detective Megan Wheeler (Julianne Nicholson). Sixteen all new episodes of Criminal Intent will be airing in 2009 on the USA Network. While waiting for new episodes you can head over to the official L&O website and play a game of concentration, or a variety of other games and trivia.
