Patrick Dempsey in Grey\'s Anatomy

Tonight at 9pm, Grey’s Anatomy is actually good again! Well, maybe, if last weeks episode was foreshadowing of things to come. In the last episode, Derek’s loss of a patient and high death rate broke him and Izzie learned what is wrong with her and that she only has a 5% chance of survival. Add to that drama a face-transplant surgery and you have all of the ingredients of a pretty cool episode. We’ll see.

Also on tonight…

  • ABC: Ugly Betty (Drama)
  • CW: Smallville (Sci Fi Drama)
  • FOX: Bones (Crime Drama)
  • NBC: My Name is Earl/The Office (Comedies)

  • CW: Supernatural (Supernatural Drama)
  • FOX: Hell’s Kitchen (Reality)
  • NBC: The Office/30 Rock (Comedies)
  • SPIKE: TNA Impact! (Wrestling)

  • ABC: Private Practice (Medical Drama)
  • A&E: The Beast (Crime Drama)
  • NBC: ER (Medical Drama)

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

Monday night, another great show came to an end. Kyle XY aired its series finale after it was canceled a few weeks ago.  It seems every year a favorite show of mine comes to an end; Veronica Mars, The Dead Zone, Jericho, Prison Break

I finally got around to watching the finale of Kyle XY today on  I watch a lot of TV, pretty much everything except reality shows and medical shows, so I end up watching a lot of shows on the networks websites.  ABC Family has got the worst video player on the web, but more about that later.  Kyle XY came to an end and it left too many questions unanswered and opened up new questions.  I hate when shows get canceled and don’t get to resolve what’s going on.  Yeah, we find out Kyle turned out the way he did because he had the Tragers there to love him. But what about everything else? Luckily writer/co-producer Julie Plec answered some of the questions of what was to come if the show continued a few more seasons.  It would of been cool to actually see some of these things happen.

Back to ABC Family’s website. The video player just sucks.  The quality of the video is bad, it’s not wide screen, it’s not even really full screen (it’s in a box), you have to click continue after the commercials, the commercials sometimes stutter making them un-watchable, sometimes the video won’t even go to commercial it says I need to change some settings to watch videos on the site, and other times it doesn’t continue after a commercial.  The best sites to watch TV shows are CBS, Hulu, and The WB.  CBS has clear full wide screen picture, but some of their best shows aren’t offered on the site (like Ghost Whisperer, The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, and Two and a Half Men).  Hulu also is a great place to watch shows from NBC, FOX and a bunch of other networks.  Hulu has a clear picture, full wide screen image, Hi Def, but they seem to be adding more and more commercial breaks.  The WB has a great picture also with a short commercial at the beginning of the shows.  I have only watched the short original series on The WB site, so I don’t know about the quality of the longer old shows that they have up.

Amazing Spider-Man 588

Written by Marc Guggenheim with art by John Romita Jr., “Character Assassination” reaches its conclusion. The Menace and Spider-Tracer killer storylines introduced with Spider-Man’s Brand New Day come to a head.

I HATED the idea behind Brand New Day, and I really wanted to hate the series, but I have to admit that I’ve enjoyed Amazing Spider-Man since the “restart”. And I’m looking forward to seeing the resolution and fallout from Menace. The new issue came out today…

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

Welcome to my all-new column, where I look at the cool little aspects of the latest TV episodes and news.

Did you catch the inside joke on Monday nights episode of Castle?

Nathan FillionOkay, so Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) is talking to his daughter and mother about Nannies.  Castle mentions that his nanny would sit and watch daytime soap operas.  He then revealed that he got the idea for his first book from watching an episode of One Life to Live.  In the mid 90s, Nathan Fillion portrayed Joey Buchanan One Life to Live.  This would be about the same time that Castle got his idea for his books.  Most of these little inside jokes the casual watcher won’t even realize, but they are funny when you do know them.

Speaking of Nannies and inside jokes on shows, there is also inside advertising.  On tonight’s episode of One Tree Hill, Nanny Deb is asking Jaime what he wants to watch and he replies Gossip Girl, cause it makes him feel bad.  Gossip Girl airs right before One Tree Hill on the CW.

And while we are on the subject of Gossip Girl, did you hear who will be portraying a teenage Lily van der Woodsen on the Gossip Girl prequel?  None other than Brittany Snow. Does anyone else think it’s weird that she was once in love with her daughter Serena’s ex boyfriend Dan Humphrey (they got down in John Tucker Must Die)?

The CW has released a clip from the new episode of Smallville, “Turbulence”. In the clip, Davis comes face to face with Jimmy Olsen, who is trying to beat the truth out of the man who becomes Doomsday. I’m not sure how I feel about this Doomsday arc overall, but it is getting interesting.

What do you think? Is the season going to end with a smack down between Clark and Doomsday? Or will that be this version of Superman’s first fight as Superman. I can’t image them doing another season without Clark donning the tights. This episode airs on Thursday at 8pm.
