I’ve been so focused on whether or not Chuck would be returning next season that this news piece fell under my radar. ABC is in talks with Scrubs executive producer Bill Lawrence about ways to lower the costs of the show and bring it back for another season. According to Variety, Zack Braff has expressed interest in returning for a hand full of episodes should the series return. Other key cast members, including John C. McGinley, Donald Faison and Neil Flynn, have all starred in new pilots, but it is unknown if any will be picked up for next season. Should they, the actors are all expected to return on at least a recurring basis. This would make room for some fresh blood that could possibly take the show into future seasons.
I’m a big fan of Scrubs. When I heard they wrapped last September, I was sad. This is great news.
However, since the show has moved to ABC, I’ve noticed a lower production quality. Sure, you have to save some bucks to keep it on. But there are some things that you can do that don’t affect the cash. My biggest complaint is the way they photograph noggins close up and crop heads. The old Scrubs showed the head, the neck, the shoulders, etc. Now it’s like I’m watching a picture that’s been cut to fit on my screen.
I like how Janitor has been humanized more with Lady. I wish they’d pick supporting players and stick with them. And JD moving? Was that because they were headed for a series end? Will he decide to move there to be closer to Sam, will they keep him there? It’s not that far, I guess. They can work the commute in. Or maybe he doesn’t move. We’ll see.
The new couples thing was interesting, me thinks. Turk as Chief? Hmm. That smells of heading toward a finale to me. What happened to Ted’s new yukelele playing girlfriend?
I remember on the finale of the brilliant Malcolm in the Middle when Lois discovered she was pregnant again. Lol. Maybe Scrubs could use a big bang like that, not necessarily a prenancy.
Oh well, this comment’s long enough. Love Scrubs. 🙂
