This Wednesday is the 600th(!) issue of The Amazing Spider-Man, and Marvel is bringing back creators past and present to give the fans more than 100 pages of original material (including a new story by Stan “The Man” Lee. The issue features the return of my favorite Spider-Man villian, Doctor Octopus, along with the love of Spidy’s life, Mary Jane Watson. While I still hate what Marvel did with Brand New Day and retconning years and years of Peter and MJ’s marriage, the books have been really good lately. Streamlined with complete stories and actual character progression. I’m looking forward to the new issue, even with its oversized price of $4.99.
What else will I be picking up this week? Lets see…
- Marvel: X-Force #17 – Picking up directly off the recent crossover with Cable, I really just want to know where Elixir is and what he knows about Hope Summers (is she really Jean Grey?)
- DC: Green Lantern #44 – Blackest Night continues as DC tries desperately to win back readers. I’m just giving it a chance, I’m not going to let them burn me again.
- Image: Invincible #64 – Robert Kirkman can do no wrong. The battle with Conquest concludes and not everyone survives.
- Dark Horse: Emily the Strange: The 13th Hour #1 – A prequel look at the “world’s weirdest thirteen-year-old”.
