Punisher Noir

Marvel Comics have been releasing a noir line of their characters for a while now, but none of them have caught my attention.  Until now. What Marvel character is better suited for a gritty noir tale than the Punisher? None.  The new limited series takes place in the 1920s where a mob boss has finally met his match in the form of a skull faced vigilante. Who is under the mask? A cop? An ex-con? Another mobster? A normal person who has had enough with the rising crime in the city? You’ll have to read to find out.

The issue came out on Wednesday, it was written by Frank Tieri with art by Paul Azaceta.

Leverage on TNT

Tonight at 9pm on TNT we have an all new episode of Leverage. The show is a high tech modern day Robin Hood. In tonight’s episode, the team has to put on a faux magic show in a ploy to take down a corrupt corporation that has been marketing tainted food.  In a summer of bad reality shows and shows I can’t even begin to describe (Shaq Vs…), I’m starving for some good dramas.

What else is on tonight?

  • ABC: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Gameshow)
  • FOX: Octomom: The Incredible Unseen Footage (this should be left unseen!)
  • NBC: America’s Got Talent (Reality Competition)

  • SYFY: Ghost Hunters (Reality Docu)
  • TBS: Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns (Comedy)

  • ABC: Primetime: Crime (News Showcase)
  • TNT: Dark Blue (Crime Drama)

10 things i hate about you

Tonight’s TV is pretty awful, so thankfully ABC Family has some quirky 90s style fun with their TV re-imagining of 10 Things I Hate About You.  The new episode airs at 8pm tonight and High School gets even more crowded and complicated as local residents pack the halls after a brush-fire causes an evacuation. In the midst of the chaos, Kat and Patrick spend some time together on the roof.  Sadly, I don’t think she’ll throw him off. The new episode is followed by a new episode of Ruby & the Rockits.

What else is on tonight?

  • ABC: Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (Gameshow)
  • FOX: Hell’s Kitchen (Reality)

  • ABC: Shaq Vs. (Seriously, are they out of freaking ideas?)
  • CBS: Big Brother 11 (Reality)
  • FOX: More to Love (Dating Reality)
  • TNT: Hawthorne (Medical Drama)
  • SYFY: Warehouse 13 (Sci-Fi)

  • ABC: Primetime: The Outsiders (News Showcase)
  • A&E: The Cleaner (Drama)
  • FX: Rescue Me (Drama)
  • TNT: Saving Grace (Drama)
  • SYFY: ECW (Wrestling)

Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk

I gave up on Monk for a long time, it was one of those shows that I just didn’t have to watch. I’d forget when it was on, and it was so removed from other programming that I wouldn’t even know when seasons were actually going.  Last week began the final season, and I took another chance on the series. It was more of the same, but in a very good way. I’ve been so far removed that the charm is back for me and it feels like I didn’t miss a beat.

Tony Shalhoub as Adrian Monk has always been a great fit, and he still has it. Tonight, Monk has his hands full as he works on a high-profile case in which a maid’s killer tented to her wounds and he connects with a visiting African widower (portrayed by Lost‘s Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, RIP Eko) who is investigating his wife’s death.

If you gave up the show like I did, it might be a good time to check it out again at 8pm on USA.

What else is on?

  • CBS: Neil Diamond – Hot August Night: NYC (Music)
  • FOX: Mental (Medical Drama)
  • MNT: Friday Night SmackDown! (Wrestling)

  • NBC: Dateline NBC (News Showcase)
  • SYFY: Eureka (Sci-Fi Comedy)

  • ABC: 20/20 (News Showcase)
  • E!: The Soup (Clip Comedy)
  • USA: Psych (Crime Comedy)
