I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am disappointed; Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse has been canceled. The series has been struggling in the ratings from day one, but content wise has been getting better week after week. Season two’s episodes are some of the best television I’ve seen in years and I would love to see where Joss and the gang would take this show in the long run.
In the very least, FOX is going to air all of the remaining episodes, and have given Joss proper notice to give a fitting conclusion to the series. If only we could reprogram FOX executives and make them keep good shows on the air.
Also canceled; ABC’s Hank and NBC’s Trauma.
I’ve never kept it a secret that I’m not a gusher of Whedon’s work. I think the television viewing public and Fox got this one on target. (shrugs)
Joss posted a comment [on Whedonesque] about the show getting canceled :(:
I don’t have a lot to say. I’m extremely proud of the people I’ve worked with: my star, my staff, my cast, my crew. I feel the show is getting better pretty much every week, and I think you’ll agree in the coming months. I’m grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again.
I’m off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking. Possibly that relaxation thing I’ve read so much about. By the time the last episode airs, you’ll know what my next project is. But for now there’s a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear.
Thank you all for your support, your patience, your excellent adverts. See you again. -j
