The first image of Chris Hemsworth as Marvel Comics’ Thor has been released!

Ironman 2 is only a week away, and the Kenneth Branagh directed Thor comes out next May.

Don’t hassel the hoff! Between his reality series, all of the drinking, and looking for cheeseburgers, he is a pretty busy guy. Now, his plate is going to be even more full as he reprises his role of Dr. William “Snapper” Foster Jr on “The Young and the Restless”!  Hasselhoff lasted appeared on the CBS soap in 1982 when his character left for a three-month fellowship in London to teach, and never returned. His run on the show will be short and he’ll be joined with returning cast members Wings Hauser (as GregFoster) and Julianna McCarthy (as Liz Foster Brooks).

I think this is a really cool move by the Hoff. Anything that brings attention to daytime soaps is positive in my book, because sadly, soaps are a dying breed.  There are no other dramatic (and narrative) programming that is new every week out of the year. And once soaps are gone, we’ll never see this style of programming again.

DC Comics has a new animated show coming to the Cartoon Network in the 2010-2011 season, based on the comic book Young Justice. The comic featured the adventures of Superboy, Robin, and Impulse, and along the way spotlighted a ton of the other young heroes, like Aqualad and Wonder Girl. From Cartoon Network’s press release:

Young Justice: In Young Justice, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over—to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you’re not just a normal teenager? What if you’re a teenage super hero? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? That’s exactly what the members of Young Justice—Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis—will found out, whether they have what it takes to be a proven hero. This all-new series is produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based upon characters from DC Comics. Sam Register (Teen Titans, Ben 10, Batman: The Brave and the Bold) is the executive producer. Brandon Vietti (Batman: Under the Red Hood, Superman Doomsday, The Batman) and Greg Weisman (Gargoyles, The Spectacular Spider-Man, W.I.T.C.H.) are the producers.

I wonder if the series will be more like the classic Batman/Superman animated series, or the Cartoon Network’s current campy series, Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

I usually write about posters that I really like or that caught my eye and are very striking. I can’t say that for this new poster for Robin Hood

The Ridley Scott helmed action flick that stars Russell Crowe has done absolutely nothing to get me excited.  This poster (and the last one with Crowe shooting an arrow) have been very bland and boring. There is nothing that sets this aside from the dozen other Robin Hood adaptations (Men in Tights and Disney’s version are tied for my favorite). The original concept Scott talked about where Crowe was going to portray the Sheriff of Nottingham as the good guy, with an evil version of Robin Hood, seemed like a really cool and interesting idea. I have no idea how it got changed and watered down, but when that happened, I lost all interest I had in the project.

We’ve talked about the “You Gotta See This” iLASIK Video Contest in the past and now, the winners have been announced!

Grand Prize Winner: “You Gotta See This Music Video” by Alex

Category 1: My Contacts Are Getting In The Way Of My Good Time

Category 2: My Favorite Sport Or Activity Would Be So Much Cooler With Better Vision

Category 3: You Should See Life After The iLASIK® Procedure

The prizes for the iLASIK Video Contest were pretty cool. The Grand Prize winner took home $5,000 dollars, all of the 1st Place winners took home an HDTV package worth over $2,500 dollars in value, and the 2nd Place winners took home a Flip UltraHD camcorder. All of these prizes are great at helping you with future projects, the money can be put right into a new short or webseries, the HDTV can be hooked up to an editing machine or used to premiere projects, and the Flip UltraHD camcorder is a very cool and small camera that could be used in normally hard to film areas. If the company behind this contest holds another video contest, I highly recommend submitting something to it, you just might win.
