TV Tonight: Person of Interest (10/4/12)

This is my favorite show on CBS. It has a nice mixture of a serialized drama and a high tech procedural. There truly is not a television show like this on the air right now and last week, it returned with a bang, literally, as it picked up directly as we left it — with Finch (Michael Emerson) having been kidnapped by Root (Amy Acker), forcing Reese (Jim Caviezel) to search for his only friend in the world. The second episode of the new season finds the show leaving the comfort of New York City for the ruffle and tumble Texan terrain in its first episode set outside of the Big Apple. This episode will feature guest star Margo Martindale (Justified) as a woman from Root’s past.

Person of Interest is a show that is at the top of its game. Since its premiere the series has not missed a beat, keeping up the mystery and intrigue without bogging itself down by a mythology too complex for its own good. Guided by the vision of Jonathan Nolan (Chris Nolan’s baby brother and co-writer of a number of Nolan’s films) this is a show that proves there is still life in the broadcast engine. It is a must watch show and the best scripted drama that CBS currently airs.

Official Description, “Bad Code”: A cold case lands Resse closer to finding Finch and his kidnapper.
