HEROES
Will there be a Heroes Miniseries? Heroes creator Tim Kring spoke with TV Guide to address the rumors. Tim Kring answers the questions: Will Heroes continue as a miniseries? If Heroes were a miniseries, where would it begin? …and… Is Nathan really dead or is there a chance he could be brought back to life? Watch the interview here.

I would love for the show to continue as a miniseries, television movie or web series, either way would be great. There are endless amounts of stories that could be told in the Heroes universe. What I would do is every month have a short web series, say 5-10 five minute episodes focusing on single characters. Then at the end of the year have a miniseries that connects all those web episodes.

LOPEZ TONIGHT
Monday night on Lopez Tonight, George Lopez went through his twitter comments. He went on to make jokes on the nerds who go to Comic Con, Snookie being arrested, Justin Beiber, and ended with Vanilla Ice singing his “classic” hit Ice Ice Baby. Vanilla Ice is at about the 4:30 mark in the video, located here. Lopez Tonight airs nightly at 11pm/10c on TBS.

TV News

PJ Flip here with some scattered news from the world of television.

  • Love Bites has been pushed back from NBC’s fall schedule to midseason. Taking its place will be The Apprentice.  Jordana Spiro is also no longer part of the cast.  She had to leave the show because of contract issues with her TBS show My Boys.  There was only one episode I was planning on watching of Love Bites.  That was the episode that Jennifer Love Hewitt was guest starring on.
  • Larry King announced he will be leaving his CNN show this fall.  Who will be replacing him?  Names that have popped up include Ryan Seacrest, Piers Morgan and Joy Behar.
  • Kim Kardasian and her sisters will guest star on 90210 as themselves in an episode next season.  Also cast on 90210 is Blair Redford in a recurring role.
  • Jane Lynch will guest star on iCarly as Sam’s mother.
  • John Schneider will appear in Smallville’s season premiere on September 24th.
  • Gossip Girl has a new bad girl.  Katie Cassidy will be causing trouble in the upcoming season.
  • Starz cancels Party Down and Gravity.
  • Emily Van Camp is leaving Brothers & Sisters.  She will appear in a few episodes.
  • Elijah Wood will star in a new FX comedy Wilfred.

This actually looks like it would be an incredible movie. It’s nothing like the original movies, which is a good thing. It’s dark and gritty with the gore from the games. Mortal Kombat doesn’t have the popularity it once had, but this movie could bring it back.

The video was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who helmed the remake of Fame, and stars Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion), Lateef Crowder (Baraka), and Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage).

What is this video for? According to a Jeri Ryan tweet, “It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.”

After reading about the new shows coming to NBC this fall, there was only one new show that really caught my eye, The Cape. I  watched all the trailers for NBC’s new shows and it really is the only one that I want to see.

“The Cape” is a one-hour drama series starring David Lyons (“ER”) as Vince Faraday, an honest cop on a corrupt police force, who finds himself framed for a series of murders and presumed dead. He is forced into hiding, leaving behind his wife, Dana (Jennifer Ferrin, “Life on Mars”) and son, Trip (Ryan Wynott, “Flash Forward”). Fueled by a desire to reunite with his family and to battle the criminal forces that have overtaken Palm City, Vince Faraday becomes “The Cape” – his son’s favorite comic book superhero – and takes the law into his own hands.

But The Cape isn’t on the schedule when the fall season begins, it won’t be on TV until midseason. What else is there? The Event looks like it could be good, but will it last past one season? This season’s conspiracy thriller FlashForward didn’t. The Undercovers looks like Mr & Mrs Smith. How did that show do? Did it even make it to TV? Outsourced got the most laughs out of me, but it is stupid funny. A show I would only watch if there was absolutely nothing else on. The Chase looks okay, maybe I’ll catch that one on Hulu. There are two shows about lawyers, Outlaw and Harry’s Law. Anyone else sick of law shows? Than you have three shows that look very similar except one is aimed at chicks (Love Bites), another at dicks (Friends with Benefits) and another at couples (Perfect Couples). At least I will be able to see my favorite actress, Jennifer Love Hewitt, on TV at least once this season. She has a guest spot on Love Bites.

At least NBC renewed my favorite show, Chuck, for another season. Check out clips and previews for all of NBC’s new shows:
