Okay, I know that we are a long way from the Holiday season! But between birthdays, anniversaries, and other special times, you should always be thinking about what gifts would fill your loved one's Geektastic Wishlists. And now, there is a new website to help you do just that! aims to take the hassle out of finding the perfect gift for your friends and family (and in turn you might be turned onto new products that you might enjoy also). The site analyzes the Facebook profile of the person you wnat to buy a gift for. It then compares it to similar users and recommends gifts that are aimed to the person's likes and preferences. It takes everything into account, from their age, gender, location, and of course, their "likes" (movies, television, books)… there is so much good data to help find that perfect gift. Best of all? The site is completely free to use. As the site finds the perfect gift suggestions for your friends, it also makes it easy to purchase the items with direct links to Amazon.

Head over and try out. It is free, so what is the worst that can happen? Don't forget to enter my profile and see what the perfect gift is for me! A hint, it will have to do with movies, zombies, and/or comic books.

This post brought to you by Givit. All opinions are 100% mine.

There is a new way to edit videos on the go, and I'm thrilled to be chatting about Givit, a easy to use iPhone app that lets you make and share highlights from your videos with your friends.

Just to get some basic info out of the way, the app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad (it requires iOS 6 or later). The app is completely free, so head over and Download Givit.

Okay, now that we got those basics through, lets talk about the app. I downloaded the app to my iPhone and took it for a test run. The interface is very clear and easy to jump right in. I followed my dog, a Basset Hound, for an hour and documented what he did in videos. Now, the whole hour would have been impossible to shoot on my iPhone, so I took a lot of very short videos. The first thing that struck me about Givit was that it had no limit on how many videos I could pull from to make the final edited video. The next coolest feature was the Live Highlighting. As you are recording, you can simply tap a button to highlight cruical moments to make it easier to go back to them. Other features included motion effects (like slow-motion and speeding up shots), titles (lots of different styles), music, and still photo intergration. This tool can be used greatly to string together photos and videos for big life events or even a normal day to share with family and friends on the go.

When you are done editing your video, it takes less than 30 seconds to share it across the web- YouTube, Twitter, Facebook… As if sharing the video wasn't enough, Givit also gives users 5gb of Cloud Storage. Interested in downloading the app? Leave a comment and let us know what kind of videos ou'd be editing with the app.!

First check out this video, then lets chat…

Did you enjoy the latest episode of Kill Phil on Cinefix’s Youtube Page? At 20 minutes, the show is longer than most webshows, but still short enough to watch during your lunch, on a break or before bed. The show is very well produced, looks and sounds fantastic, with some very stylist graphics mixed in. The episode takes the audience to the Creative Concepts workshop. It is here that we join movie prop master Rick Hilgner for three days as he builds the awesome shotgun-like blaster from the Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis time travel action thriller Looper.

Hilgner is known for making some very cool props that you are very familiar with, having worked on such movies as The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, Broken Arrow, and Vertical Limit. And he does not let down here. My favorite thing about the episode is that it really takes you behind the scenes of building the prop. We follow Hilgner for three days, extensively going step by step through the process of building the prop gun. It is amazing to see the level of detail that is put into this. You don’t always realize when you watch a movie that all of these original creations where made by hand, taking days, even weeks and months to build.

Other episodes of Kill Phil focus on building such props as the Arc Generator from District 9 and the Gravity Gun from Half Life. Check ’em and out and leave a comment with your favorite movie weapon- what would you like them to build in a future episode?

Over on Facebook Grand Marnier is celebrating the Holidays with a very giving spirit! Facebook fans have the chance of getting 1000 bucks just for "liking" their page and hanging an ornament on their Grand Giving Tree app and an additional thirty thousand dollars will be given to three great charities; Best Friends Animal Society, Earth Day Network and Surfrider Foundation.

How it works is that fans choose an ornament from their favorite charity and place said ornament on the giving tree. I picked the Best Friends Animal Society because I have seen first hand the great work that they do with pet donations and caring for strays. All three truly are worthwhile charities that deserve the donations. I love that Grand Marnier has figured out a way to have fun with their Facebook fans and give money to charity at the same time. Which charity would you choose to give the extra money to? Earth Day Network is the driving force behind the environmental movement. They have worked in over 190 countries to educate and pass laws to protect our environment. The Surfrider Foundation works hard to protect our beaches and the world's oceans.

Over on the Grand Marnier Facebook page they have a bunch of fun stuff, including photos, deals, cocktail recipes, and more. After you enter the contest, you should check out their other stuff.

This post brought to you by © Blue Shield of California. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love the endless possibilities of webTV. We've seen webshows across the board, ones that mimic narrative television shows (sitcoms, dramas, sci-fi, etc), reality programming, talk shows, how to advice shows, and so much more. From the above graphic you might have guessed that today we'll be talking about a new show, Dr. Jim and Bob's Fun & Helpful Health Advice, presented by Blue Shield of California. We can't be surprised that a California health company is putting out a fun health Q&A style webshow.

Dr. Jim and Bob are literally talking (and floating) heads that have a witty banter between each other while providing the audience with informative information about whatever their aliment is. They have different videos from everything from constipation and diarrhea, to cold sores, snoring and insomnia. Not only do they make videos to help people answer questions about their health, but Dr. Jim and Bob actively search the internet to find people with questions and then make videos to answer those questions.

Since My Hollywood Dream is (you guessed it) Hollywood based, we deal with getting Sunburn more often than I'd like to admit. What advice do Dr. Jim and Bob have for us?

As you can see, the videos are short and enjoyable. The company behind the webseries is Blue Shield of California, a not for profit company that offers access to health care plans that are affordable and include a vast array of doctors and even alternative care (in Hollywood even needs a chiropractor and a great acupuncture person). Check out Ask Dr. Jim and Bob and then follow them to their Facebook page where you can like them and stay up to date on their new videos.

Kmart Free Layaway Grid 09_12.jpg

Every year towards the Holidays we start gathering our Ultimate Geek Wishlist. Sadly, most of the time when we go to fulfill the list and get all of our holiday gifts, a lot of the stuf we wanted to get people is already gone. And in this day and age when we have free layaway as an option, it is silly not to use the feature. To make things even more boss, there is Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway!

What is the Kmart Big Layaway Giveaway you ask? Well, starting last week and lasting until November 17th, 2012 all of the Kmart stores will be giving a lucky person something off their layaway list for free. Each store will be having one such giveaway a week. That is ten free giveaways per store… and there are a lot of Kmart stores!

BLG_Logo_Horizontal.jpg (3 documents, 3 total pages)

There are a lot of awesome things coming out this Holiday season that layaway could be useful with. I remember years ago, when I wanted to buy the Nintendo Wii, my wife and I went to more than a dozen stores before we finally were about to get one. And this was weeks after it had already come out. If we only had a layaway option, we wouldn't have had to wait so long to get it. And now the next generation of the Wii is set to come out in November. That is right, the Nintendo Wii U. I love the Wii, but this takes it to the next level and it will be hard to get your hands on this console come the Holidays. Other stuff I'm going to throw on my layaway are a bunch of Blu-Rays, including 25th Anniversary Editions of Master of the Universe and The Princess Bride, box sets of Universal Classic Monsters, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Downton Abbey, and Cinderella.

Kmart makes their layaway program very straightforward and easy to use. I have personally never used Walmart, Best Buy and Toys R Us' layaway programs, but I can not imagine them being as easy as Kmart's layaway program… and I'm pretty sure that none of them will be giving away stuff off people's list through November. What will you be adding to your Kmart layaway? Personally I would love to win something from the contest. I love free stuff.

This post brought to you by Kia Rio. All opinions are 100% mine.

What do you think about Kia's Scavenger Hunt? Interested in taking your own? The concept of the video above is simple enough, Kia sent two teams of friends in the 2012 Kia Rio 5-door on the Zip and Dash through Los Angeles. The scavenger hunt takes the teams through many of Los Angeles' iconic locations on challenges, including the famed Griffith Park Merry-Go-Round, Amoeba Records, Rodeo Drive (the shopping destination made famous in Pretty Women), Pink's Hot Dogs, and the Hollywood hotspot (and possible locations of famus ghosts)- the Roosevelt Hotel. What are the teams looking for? None other than actress Christina Millian.  The Rodeo Drive challenge might have been the most difficult, do you agree?

The teams had to utilize the cars many features to finish the hunt, which include (but are not limited to) Bluetooth, UVO Technology, USB jack, navigation, and a rear camera display. My personal favorite feature is the UVO Technology (linked). You can program your car to recongnise your voice so you can speak commands to it for making and getting calls and using the audio features of the car- this lets you stay completely handsfree while driving. I wish I had that on my car.

Watch the video and leave a comment with your thoughts. Then check out the Kia Rio Explorer Page for more details on the car and its features (also where to get one). Personally, I'd love to go on an adventure/scavenger hunt through Los Angeles, althought I'm not sure what superstar would be at the end of the challenge. But for me it would be less about the superstar and more about the actual challenges. That is where I'd have fun!
