LoadedTubi TV is my new favorite site for watching movies online. While there are films of all genres and sizes on the site, it is quickly becoming a great place to watch independent movies. This past weekend we stumbled across a horror/thriller, End Trip, with a modern ride sharing twist.

Official Description: On a calm night in an average city a hardworking URYDE driver, Brandon, picks up just another fare, Judd. Using interactions that blur the lines between the technological world and the physical one, Judd explains a messy breakup. Brandon offers an empathetic ear and a sympathetic heart to his new friend to help him pick up the pieces. Aggregated profiles, algorithms, links, likes and comments bring people closer. But how close is too close?

The movie was directed by Aaron Jay Rome and stars Dean J. West, Aaron Jay Rome, Ashley Lenz, Jaren Mitchell, and Michelle West. You can watch End Trip for free on Tubi TV. Leave us a comment with your thoughts on the flick.

After you watch End Trip for free, you can check out these other independent films online for purchase or rental.

Independent horror movie Dark Forest, has a new trailer that spotlights both the good and bad comments the movie has received. It is a fun look at the whiplash many independent films see from reviewers and online commenters. The slasher movie is perfect for Halloween, it follows a weekend camping trip that turns into a fight for survival. It was directed by Roger Boyer and stars Stefanie Austin, Genevieve DeGraves, Jalin Desloges, Trevor Kristjanson, and Jesse Laing. Learn more about Dark Forest in our indie film spotlight.

What is on your pull list for October 23, 2019?

With the release of Avengers: Endgame, an era of Marvel movies has come to a conclusion, but we have definitely not seen the last of the famed Marvel team. While the roster may end up being very different, the MCU will still need a group of heroes to protect (or avenge) them. Later, we will spotlight the potential new roster, but for now lets look at some of the comic book villains that we could see taking the mantle of big bad in Avengers 5.  (some spoilers may follow)

Kang the Conqueror

Kang the Conqueror
With Endgame introducing the idea of time travel, that opens up the door of MCU to introduce the classic Marvel villain Kang the Conqueror, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in the 60s.  While originally a Fantastic Four villain, Kang has showed down with the Avengers numerous times in the past (in comics and animated form). It could be as straightforward as Kang traveling to the current MCU from his dying timeline to conquer earth, or he could come looking for revenge blaming the Avenger’s time travel adventure for killing his future (or alternate future). Visually there is a lot that Marvel could do with Kang and with his connections to the Fantastic Four, it could potentially be a good way to introduce them into the proper MCU.

Annihilus

Annihilus
Yes, another Fantastic Four villain (sorry, they have a great rouges gallery). Annihilus is a super/cosmic/powerful warlord and sometimes ruler of the Negative Zone. Visually he is like a cross between Ultron and Thanos and like Thanos he commands a fleet of spaceships and an army of followers. Is that too soon? Is Annihilus just too similar to the threat that Thanos posed? I love villains that can go head to head with the heroes (just say no to smoke monsters and human big bads). Annihilus could bring the Avenger’s fight into space and would introduce some awesome new MCU science including the Negative Zone (and hopefully the Richards family).

Mandarin

The Mandarin
One of the MCU’s disappointing missteps was how badly the Ten Rings and the Mandarin were handled in Iron Man 3. People were so angry at what they did to the classic Ironman villain, that Marvel Studios did an about face and hinted at there being a real Mandarin in a MCU One Shot short movie. The Ten Rings was introduced in Ironman and it is about time that we see some payoff from the group. Maybe in the five year gap in Endgame, the group gained even more power; recruited new followers and took over land in more countries. Could the Mandarin have risen to power in the shadows? Were they next on Hawkeye’s kill list? Using the Mandarin and the Ten Rings, we could have a very powerful earth-bound Avengers movie. And with characters on the Avengers like the Falcon, War Machine, Black Panther, Wasp, and Ant-Man, we have a much more even balance of power.

Beyonder

Beyonder
How do you top Infinity War and Endgame? Introduce the Beyonder and Secret Wars and just let the MCU go bat-shit crazy. Heroes and villains both past and present fighting each other in Battleworld while the cosmic god-like entity tries to decide if earth is worth saving. This could be a good way to gather up characters form all movies again, but is it too soon for that? Would it be too much of a rehash? And would it feel forced? Either way, using the Beyonder and Secret Wars could potentially be a lot of fun (but maybe hold off until the X-Men and Fantastic Four are firmly established into the MCU).

Who would you like to see in Avengers 5? I left Galactus off my above list, because I feel like the next Avengers film would be too soon. We need to build him up over another 20 movies first!

Earlier this year we had the chance to chat with Laura Sheehy, the co-director/writer and producer of Chasing the Win, a documentary focusing on the world of horse racing.

Chasing The Win

Who?
Chasing the Win is a documentary feature film that follows Carl O’Callaghan, a rookie trainer, Patrick Sheehy, a physician and veteran race horse owner, and their beloved racehorse, Kinsale King. Myself (Laura Sheehy) and my co-collaborator, Chris Ghelfi made the film and Indie Rights released it.

Chasing The Win

What?
Chasing the Win follows the meteoric rise of a rookie trainer, a down on his luck owner, and their imperfect racehorse after an unprecedented victory thrusts them into the global spotlight of horse racing. Success and fame are followed by the hard-hitting reality of what it means to survive in the Sport of Kings.

Chasing The Win

Where?
It takes place at race tracks across America, Dubai and England.

Chasing The Win

When?
Beginning in 2010, we started filming, followed our characters for 1 year, culminating with a big event in the film. Then we edited for many years, all the while seeing if the story we were aiming for had changed or not. We struggled with our cuts and took a long time working on it. We then followed up with more filming 6 years later as we started to get into festivals. We felt there was some footage we needed to update. So we showed our film at 3 festivals, then shot some new footage and updated our ending for the remaining screenings we had. All of this was prior to it’s theatrical screening and release at the end of 2018.

Chasing The Win

Why?
I made this film because I’ve grown up around horse racing and found the world fascinating on so many levels. I had wanted to make a film within that world, but my father always said, “It’s not a good story unless you have a winning horse.” So when Kinsale King and Carl O’Callaghan came along, it was just something special and a friend of mine said, “We should film that.” (“That” being the unprecedented victory at the beginning of the film with Kinsale King in Dubai)

We started following the story after he won in Dubai. But really, at the end of the day my dad has not stopped pursuing his dream all his life and at the age of 71 years old, his dream came true when a beloved racehorse of his won a Grade 1 race in Dubai. This was a 2 million dollar purse. I found that incredibly inspiring. So I wanted to share this story to ultimately inspire others to pursue their dream- whatever it may be. One thing my co-director and I always hoped people got from this movie was that it was NOT about the win, but it is about the chase. Just like life. We really feel this story is a metaphor for life.

Chasing The Win

How?
Audiences can see this film on Amazon, Amazon Prime, Google Play, YouTube Movie Rentals, Roku, iTunes, and Vudu.
