This is the perfect way to have a West Wing reunion.
.

A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote is coming to HBO Max on October 15, 2020 and bring back the cast for a dramatic stage reading of the show’s “Hartsfield’s Landing” episode. Returning for the special reunion are Martin Sheen, Allison Janney, Richard Schiff, Bradley Whitford, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, and Janel Moloney, with the addition of Sterling K. Brown, who fills in for the departed John Spencer.

According to EW, the special “will also feature guest appearances during act breaks from When We All Vote co-chair Michelle Obama, former President Bill Clinton, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, as well as musical performances by composer W.G. Snuffy Walden, who will play the iconic West Wing theme song on guitar, and folk rock band the Avett Brothers, who will close out the special.”

Amazing to see this iconic cast reunite for a cause that is so close to the heart of the show. Follow their lead and vote. Encourage others to vote! Make your voice heard.

LoadedToday’s spotlight indie movie, Ekaj, is a little different than a lot of the movies we spotlight. Director Cati Gonzalez crafted the LGBTQ drama Ekaj by casting non-actors in all of the roles. She did this to make this particular story more authentic and “as real-to-life as possible.” It helps the movie feel different and unique.

Official Description: Ekaj is a film packed with real life drama and a real sense of humor. The film capture’s a naive teen’s runaway journey to one of the most difficult city’s to survive in, New York City.

The movie stars Jake Mestre, Badd Idea, Scooter LaForge, and the movie’s director, Cati Gonzalez. You can watch Ekaj for free on Tubi TV. The LGBTQ crime drama is also free for Amazon Prime members on Prime Video.

This is a very hard time across the globe, but I’m thankful for movies and having access to so many movies online. You can find big, small, Hollywood, Indie, art, shorts, etc., all for free to watch. We should all be staying at home to help take pressure off the heroes in our medical community, so what better time to watch a ton of movies.

We are spotlighting free movies on Twitter at the hashtag #MHD_WatchOnline and we will try to post daily spotlights here with recommendations for movies that you can watch for free online (without a subscription or account). Today we’re looking at the horror flick Char Man.

Official Description: Two friends visit fire-ravaged Ojai, California, intent on making a fake documentary about the infamous Ojai Vampire. However, things take a bizarre and frightening turn when they learn about a different local legend: The Char Man.

The movie was directed by Kipp Tribble and Kurt Ela, and stars both Tribble and Ela, along with Jeff Kober, Nick Greco, and Buddy Wilds. You can watch Char Man for free on Tubi TV.

Have recommendations for other movies we should include in #MHD_WatchOnline? Let us know in the comments! The only rule is that it needs to be available online to watch for free (legally with no strings attached – AVOD is very welcome!).

We had the pleasure of talking with director Duke Addleman on about his documentary Breathe Breana, a movie that tells the story of a champion surfer who suffers from a life-threatening disease.

Breathe Breana

Who?
Breana Schroeder is the main force behind this movie. Her mother Caryn and her surfing partner Bobby Friedman appear as themselves. I do my Hitchcock with Breana at the camera after one of the interview segments. Indie Rights picked us up and has us on Apple TV, Amazon, YouTube, Google Play, and Tubi TV.

Breathe Breana

What?
The story is about Breana, her struggle with the life threatening disease cystic fibrosis, and her relentless effort to become a surfing champion.

Breathe Breana

Where?
We filmed in Maui, San Onofre, Malibu, Oahu, Hermosa Beach, and Palos Verdes/San Pedro.

Breathe Breana

When?
This was a two-year shoot, taking place between April of 2016 and November of 2018. I edited the film in the winter of 2018/19, and began showing it in 2019. Indie Rights released us in June of 2019.

Breathe Breana

Why?
I made this film because Breana Schroeder is a marvel… because Breana is an inspiring, soul-enriching human being. I felt compelled to tell her story, and I believe I did it well. In fact, I dare you to watch it without welling up!
