A key ingredient to making a film is selling it and getting it seen. To help do that it is very important to have an awesome poster, website, DVD cover, etc. In designing any of those, you have to make sure you have the right font. You can’t just whip something up fast and use a default font on it.

Thankfully we have free sites like 1001Fonts. I have used 1001 for the past few years. They are constantly updated and have such a wide variation of fonts. They showcase both original stuff and fonts that mimic popular shows and movies. The site is set up around user feedback and the creators of the fonts have a direct line of communication with the people using them. Heck, if you wanna, you can even try to make your own fonts and post them on the site. You can take their site tour here.

I never thought that this past year’s (WGA) writer’s strike would have had positive repercussions, but after seeing this alternate ending to the second season of Heroes, I’m glad the writers went on strike. You see, due to the strike, the creative forces behind Heroes scrapped the current storyline they were developing and went into a completely different (and much better IMO) direction; which will lead into season 3 “Villains”.

This is a vision of what could have happened (a future which has been diverted)…

Pulp 2.0 posted a very interesting article showcasing just how to write a Sci-Fi Channel original movie. The article breaks down the channel’s seven act structure and describes the elements that are needed for a script to be considered for the network and independent production companies that produce for the network.

DC Comics and the makers of Mortal Kombat are teaming up for one of the strangest video game crossovers ever, pitting characters from both universes against each other in a fighting game. At the San Diego Comic-Con, the makers of the game brought some footage and described various features and characters within the game. Well, they have been kind enough to share that footage online…

While I hate hate hate how this site is laid out, I absolutely LOVE the content. The Internet Movie Car Database (IMCDB for short, of course) lists and has pictures for pretty much every car to be featured in any film and TV series that you can think of (including foreign films and music videos even). The design of the site makes it tough to scan through, but the search works like a charm. I also have a lot of fun clicking around the different car models and seeing the wild variety of shows and movies that use the same style car or even the same exact cars. If you like cars and movies, this site is perfect to get lost into for a couple hours.
