The city has maintained peace for over 500 years by stripping its citizens of their ability to feel. As a result, violent crime is virtually unheard of, and murder is nonexistent. When we say “The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl’s final issue” though, we mean the *comic book*, not the character. Doreen Green will be fine! She’s fine!…OR IS SHE? Buffy Season 10, Issue 4

Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 10 #4
Official Description: Getting help from Dracula seemed like a good idea, until he stole the Vampyr book—and Xander! Now Buffy, Spike, Dawn, Willow, and Giles must save Xander and retrieve the book before it’s too late. Dracula has already begun to study how the lack of magical rules can work in his favor… The team from Angel & Faith takes over Buffy! Executive produced by Joss Whedon! Nicholas Brendon (Xander) joins Season 10!

I love it when Buffy-verse cast members join the writing team for issues. Who better to get into Xander’s head then the actor that brought him to life for so many years. The team of Christos Gage and Rebekah Isaacs continue to impress. After a stellar “season” of Angel & Faith, it is great to see them steering the main ship. Was surprised to see the team reintroduce Dracula, but I’m intrigued by the direction they are taking with the “big bad” caliber villain who has never reached that status in either the Buffy TV series or comics. It would be great to see him as a real threat.

The issue will be published by Dark Horse Comics on June 18th, 2014 from writers Christos Gage & Nicholas Brendon, along with artist Rebekah Isaacs, and of course executive producer Joss Whedon.

Following Buffy the Vampire Season 10? Enjoying the reintroduction of the classic vampire?

Okay, I’ll be honest here, I usually skip comic anthologies. Random stand alone stories just don’t interest me as much as ongoing stories do. These are usually throw away stories that you can skip and not feel like you missed a beat... But Dark Horse Presents #25 has Buffy the Vampire Slayer on the cover and I’m a sucker for Buffy tie ins. This particular stand alone story spins right out of the newest issue of Buffy (#22) and deals with one of the slayer’s newest allies, Billy, as he returns home to fight off the growing Zompire population that is wrecking havoc. What the heck, I’ll give it a shot. What other stories does the anthology have?

Dark Horse Presents #25
Official Description: After training with Buffy, Billy the vampire slayer heads back to his hometown to deal with the zompire epidemic! Delve into a time-travel story from Eisner Award–winning writer Matt Fraction! Mike Richardson adapts Andrew Vachss’ vision of violence in the big city in Undergound! Read an installment of The Chapel Chronicles by fifteen-year-old Emma T Capps!  Plus, new installments of Trekker, Blackout, Nexus, Crime Does Not Pay, Brain Boy, King’s Road, and Bloodhound!

The issue comes out from Dark Horse Comics next Wednesday, June 19th, 2013, from more writers and artists than I can count.

Everything in the past 22 issues has been leading up to this. All of Angel’s planning and his journey with Faith is coming to a head. Did the spell work? Has Giles been resurrected? The issue’s description does not lead on, but thankfully for us, the issue came out last week. I’ve really enjoyed how this series has played out and I hope that it ends as well as it has been. Big props to writer Christos Gage and artist Rebekah Isaacs. I know were only on issue two of the last arc, but I hope that we have some resolution to the “season’s” journey.

Angel & Faith #22
Giles’s resurrection has been pushed to the back burner while Angel and Faith tackle Season 9’s Big Bads—Pearl, Nash, and Whistler—who threaten to release boundless magic over the planet. Only the strong will survive!

Why are you still here? Go find out if Giles is back!

How cool is it that for the past few months we have had weekly Buffy the Vampire Slayer universe comics? The Spike and Willow limited series’ have help to expand the scope of “Season 9” and its theme of a magic-less world without making the season drag on forever (my main criticism of “Season 8”).

Spike’s journey to “A Dark Place” has dealt with him getting over his feelings for Buffy and finding his inner “badass” again. The adventure has taken him from the dark side of the moon to the wreckage of Sunnydale and along the way he has knocked heads with Pearl and Nash, two of the “big bads” that Angel has been facing off with in Angel & Faith. Will the conclusion of Spike’s personal journey take him back to his former friend/foe/grand-sire?

Spike: A Dark Place #5
Official Description: Spike and his new demon companion are getting along really well… On Easter Island, the duo work to activate a remnant of magic to help get Nadia home. Spike has stars in his eyes, but the bugs are wary of Spike’s newest friend and their master’s overly relaxed attitude. Something seems off. He’s come out of his self-inflicted dark place a bit too swiftly… The conclusion! Coincides with events in Buffy Season 9.

The new issue hit stands this past Wednesday from Dark Horse Comics, writer Victor Gischler, artist Paul Lee, and executive producer Joss Whedon.
