Guest post of the week by Monte Dominguez.

Ah… no more re-runs! It was so difficult for me to wait until Thursday on the opening week of NBC’s fall programming especially since I have direct tv HD. The peacock network is finally returning to its “must-see” sit-com status on Thursday nights with new episodes of “Community,” “30 Rock,” “The Office,” and the all-new “Outsourced.”

The best of the group, at least in my opinion, was the second-season premiere of “Community.” My satellite tv reception never looked so good as when I kicked my feet up while the great ensemble cast prepared for another semester at Greendale College. The interplay between Greendale’s coolest study group (made up of Joel McHale as ‘Jeff,’ Gillian Jacobs as ‘Britta,’ Chevy Chase as ‘Pierce,’ Yvette Nicole Brown as ‘Shirley,’ Danny Pudi as ‘Abed,’ Donald Glover as ‘Troy,’ and Alison Brie as ‘Annie’) was as clever as ever. The best example: when it is revealed that Jeff and Britta had sex at the end of season one on the group’s conference table, everyone jumps up with a collective “AHHH!!!” that nearly masks Troy’s true reaction of “AHHH-SOME!!!”

My favorite part of the season premiere, though, had to be the guest-starring appearance of comedy legend Betty White as the group’s new anthropology professor. Thanks to her, the show’s writers were able to resolve the issues remaining from the first season without being overly sentimental.

Community‘s score? A+!

Cool Vacations

The summer is finally here and it is time for a vacation! (okay, not for me, but I’m sure for plenty of you it is) What is your ideal vacation? A trip to a tropical resort? A week long cruise? How about something as simple as a Day Spa Relaxation Massage or a Pool and Hot Tub Party? How about driving cross county to “Wally World”?

Whereever you decide to go or whatever you decide to do for your summer vacation, just remember some of the things that the Griswold family has taught us throughout the years. First up, if you are going to drive hundreds of miles to the happiest (and most fun) amusement park in the world, always call ahead or check their schedule to make sure that they will be open at your time of arrival. Nothing is worse than getting there and having to break into to enjoy your time off. While we are on the subject of amusement parks, never (and I mean never) drive cross-country to get to one. Instead you’ll need the time you wasted on that drive to wait on the incredibly long lines that the summer brings to the parks. A flight might take you 4 or 5 hours, but that drive is going to take at least a week. And who has that much time to waste out of their precious vacation? Trust me, the world’s largest ball of twine isn’t that special, I’ve seen it.

So, what is your ideal summer vacation? And how would you get there?

The Soap, Joel Mchale

Tonight at 10pm is an all new episode of The Soup with Joel McHale on E! (yeah, E!).  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, The Soup is easily the most consistantly funny show on TV. Every Friday you can depend on it to bring the laughs. The show’s host, Joel McHale, is going to be in a new NBC comedy with Chevy Chase in the fall, Community. Thankfully, he’s assured audiences that he will continue to host The Soup.

Chuck Finale on NBC. Save CHUCK!!!Tonight at 8pm on NBC is the second season finale of Chuck. The show is consistantly one of the most entertaining shows on television, but is sadly on the bubble for renewal. I hope everyone takes the time to check out the finale and help it get the ratings that it deserves. Watch it live, Tivo it, DVR it, then watch it again online!

Tonight, a lot of stuff is coming to ahead; the wedding of Ellie and Awesome, Chuck and Sarah’s relationship, and the war between the government and Fulcrum. Add to that a list of great guest stars including Scott Bakula, Chevy Chase, Morgan Fairchild, Tony Hale, Bruce Boxleitner, and Matthew Bomer returns as secret agent (and Chuck’s ex-college roommate) Bryce Larkin!

If you are new to Chuck, you’ll still be able to enjoy the action and witty comedy.  You can catch up on past episodes on Hulu, by clicking here. Currently they are streaming 12 episodes (episodes 11 to 21 of the current season). You’ll be able to fill in any missing gaps through the IMDB.

If you’d like some info on how you can help save Chuck, you can check out one of these Save Chuck Twitters (SaveChuck and Save_Chuck), or this Facebook group, the Sidereel site, the GiveMeMyRemote Campaign, and of course you can sign one of these petitions (Petition Spot and You Choose).

And finally, have you ever seen an actor lead a couple hundred fans to one of their show’s main advertisers to help save their show? This is going above and beyond!

What else is on TV tonight?

  • Nothing. Watch Chuck!

We’d like to wish everyone who celebrates it, a very Merry Christmas!
