Okay, I know that we are a long way from the Holiday season! But between birthdays, anniversaries, and other special times, you should always be thinking about what gifts would fill your loved one's Geektastic Wishlists. And now, there is a new website to help you do just that! aims to take the hassle out of finding the perfect gift for your friends and family (and in turn you might be turned onto new products that you might enjoy also). The site analyzes the Facebook profile of the person you wnat to buy a gift for. It then compares it to similar users and recommends gifts that are aimed to the person's likes and preferences. It takes everything into account, from their age, gender, location, and of course, their "likes" (movies, television, books)… there is so much good data to help find that perfect gift. Best of all? The site is completely free to use. As the site finds the perfect gift suggestions for your friends, it also makes it easy to purchase the items with direct links to Amazon.

Head over and try out. It is free, so what is the worst that can happen? Don't forget to enter my profile and see what the perfect gift is for me! A hint, it will have to do with movies, zombies, and/or comic books.

1. Kindle Fire
Amazon’s awesome tablet/e-reader is on sale from $159 to $129 bucks. It normally is the best priced tabley on the market for what you get and this sale makes it that much better! To get the Cyber Monday deal you need to use the code FIREDEAL at checkout. After you get the Kindle Fire you might want to purchase a new e-book or two. You can try our very own wrestling expert/movie reviewer Lucian’s Tales of Modern Horror, where you get three short stories for the price of one. Other ideas for your favorite geek include Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead novel “The Road to Woodbury” or one of my personal favorites Pulp, from Charles Bukowski.

2. Marvel Studios Movies
For at least today you can get some of the best superhero movies ever made on Blu-Ray for under 10 bucks, including Captain America: The First Avenger, Thor, and Iron Man 2. Sure, you can get both Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings Blu-Rays for under 4 bucks, but they are old news compared to Marvel’s amazing cinematic universe.

3. Various Video Games
Today Amazon is featuring a ton of awesome video game lighting deals. Including in the mix are; Need for Speed: The Run, Kinect Star Wars, NHL 13, Dance Central 3, Cabela’s Dangerous Hunts 2013, Soul Calibur V, SSX, and The Secret World to name a few. Normally nothing can beat the price of a Lighting Deal, but that goes double on Cyber Monday. You are sure to find a game for whatever kind of geek you are shopping for.

Kmart Free Layaway Grid 09_12.jpg

Every year towards the Holidays we start gathering our Ultimate Geek Wishlist. Sadly, most of the time when we go to fulfill the list and get all of our holiday gifts, a lot of the stuf we wanted to get people is already gone. And in this day and age when we have free layaway as an option, it is silly not to use the feature. To make things even more boss, there is Kmart's Big Layaway Giveaway!

What is the Kmart Big Layaway Giveaway you ask? Well, starting last week and lasting until November 17th, 2012 all of the Kmart stores will be giving a lucky person something off their layaway list for free. Each store will be having one such giveaway a week. That is ten free giveaways per store… and there are a lot of Kmart stores!

BLG_Logo_Horizontal.jpg (3 documents, 3 total pages)

There are a lot of awesome things coming out this Holiday season that layaway could be useful with. I remember years ago, when I wanted to buy the Nintendo Wii, my wife and I went to more than a dozen stores before we finally were about to get one. And this was weeks after it had already come out. If we only had a layaway option, we wouldn't have had to wait so long to get it. And now the next generation of the Wii is set to come out in November. That is right, the Nintendo Wii U. I love the Wii, but this takes it to the next level and it will be hard to get your hands on this console come the Holidays. Other stuff I'm going to throw on my layaway are a bunch of Blu-Rays, including 25th Anniversary Editions of Master of the Universe and The Princess Bride, box sets of Universal Classic Monsters, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Downton Abbey, and Cinderella.

Kmart makes their layaway program very straightforward and easy to use. I have personally never used Walmart, Best Buy and Toys R Us' layaway programs, but I can not imagine them being as easy as Kmart's layaway program… and I'm pretty sure that none of them will be giving away stuff off people's list through November. What will you be adding to your Kmart layaway? Personally I would love to win something from the contest. I love free stuff.

This post brought to you by LG DoublePlay™. All opinions are 100% mine.

Are you still struggling with what to get your geeky or tech savvy significant other? Well, thanks to the wonder of the internet I was just introduced to the LG DoublePlay™, and I think I can cross at least one thing off my list.

This smartphone sets itself a part from others with dual touch screens (one 3.5 inch and the other is a 2 inch sub display). You can switch between the touch screens and a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard. In addition to the dual monitors you’ll get a 5 megapixel camera, an HD video recorder (with direct upload to Facebook and messaging, the phone runs on Android 2.3 and is compatible with Cloud Text and Group Text functions, which lets you use your phone in conjunction with your PC or tablet for group chatting.

I don’t know about you, but I usually use somewhere in the neighborhood of 500 texts a month, between work interactions, personal messages, and sending pictures to friends and family. I also have switched from the computer to my smartphone for most of my posts to Facebook and Twitter, it is easier to post on the go as things come up rather than saving a thought for when I am by a computer. If I had the LG DoublePlay, I might be able to take my texting and social media interactions to the next level on the go by posting better looking pictures and video blogs, along with staying in touch with work via group texting.

Check out the link above for more details about the LG DoublePlay- there is still time to get one for the Holidays! The phone is available exclusively at T-Mobile. How much do you text? Do you think the LG DoublePlay could be a game changer as far as phones go? The dual touch screens are pretty awesome!

I honestly can’t believe that it is already December 3rd. I am usually well into Christmas shopping by now (and I’ve usually begun writing our yearly Geektastic Wishlist by now). At the moment I’ve done neither.

Thankfully I was pushed forward a little bit by Wine dot com on both counts. They gave me a dozen gift ideas and gave me the well needed push I needed into writing this article and starting the column back up. I mean, what makes a better gift for friends, family and work aquaintaines than Wine Gift Baskets?

How does this fit on the Geektatic Wishlist you ask? A list that is usually filled with karaoke machines, goofy t-shirts, and DVDs. Well, wine has played a big role in a lot of movies over the years. Lets take a look at two of them in particular:

We have to start with Alexander Payne’s movie about two middle aged friends, portrayed by Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church, that take a week long road trip through California’s wine country. The movie had heart and laughs and introduced audiences to a variety of wines. In the movie Giamatti’s Miles was a big fan of a 1961 CChateau Cheval Blanc. This particular wine is a bit expensive, a 2003 Chateau Cheval Blanc will set you back more than 400 bucks. If you can’t shell out that much, you can buy a fan of the movie the Blu-Ray and a gift basket with Pinot Noir, one of Mile’s other great passion wines, or even a California Wine Tour Wine Gift Basket for just 99 bucks.

The Silence of the Lambs
Okay, I bet this wasn’t a movie that you’d expect to see on a list about movies that wine plays a role in. And sure, wine doesn’t shape this movie like it did for Sideways, but I feel like this movie has arguably the best line of dialogue ever: “A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.” So, do you know a big fan of The Silence of the Lambs? Why not get them a copy of the DVD or Blu-Ray with a bottle of a nice Chanti. has a wide selection of Chianti’s to choose from, with prices that range from 20 bucks to more than a 100 bucks. It gives you a ton of bottles to choose from.

We’ve gone over some pretty cool gift ideas over the past month as we countdown to the Holidays (and celebrate ones at the moment).  Gift ideas included tickets to live events (like concerts, plays, and music festivals), classic television show DVD box sets, karaoke machines (for your party loving friends), guitar lessons, cooking classes, and awesome t-shirts (I get at least one of these for most people).

But what do you give the music lover that is an aspiring DJ? How about the pioneer cdj400k.  The pioneer cdj400k is a stylist piece of DJ equipment that is an absoltue must have for anyone that wants to get in the game. It has really good scratching capability along with PC software compatibility and excellent MIDI control. Other features include Digital Looping Function, Loop Divide, Digital Jog Break, Tempo Control with four modes, Cue and Loop Points, Jog Indicator, Digital Output, and Resume Function.

Along with the pioneer cdj400k, every good DJ needs a great set of speakers and amps. Other fun gifts for aspiring DJs could include the 64 gig Ipod Touch, which has more than enough room to store all of the music they might have and be able to take it on the go easily.
