How I Met Your Mother

Here we go. We are in the home stretch of How I Met Your Mother and one of the fun ongoing stories throughout the series, the “Slap Bet,” is coming to a close. This season and the shift in storytelling (the whole season takes place in one weekend) has been jarring and very hit and miss, but it is great to see years of stories come to a head and ultimately, a close. In two weeks we get the Mother’s side of the story in an episode titled “How Your Mother Met Me.” I. Can’t. Wait.

Official Description: “Slapsgiving 3: Slappointment in Slapmarra” In their ongoing slaphappy “Slap Bet,” Marshall plans to land one final smashing blow to soon-to-be-married Barney.

After How I Met Your Mother is a new episode of 2 Broke Girls. What else is on tonight?

Girl Meets World has cast the role of Riley, Corey and Topanga’s daughter, with Rowan Blanchard.  Sabrina Carpenter has been also cast as Riley’s best friend Maya. Girl Meets World is still looking for someone to play Elliott, Cory and Topanga’s son. The casting call says “His parents worry that he has inherited [his uncle’s] ‘Eric Matthews Algernon’ gene and will lose intelligence as time goes by.” Blanchard co-starred in Spy Kids: All the Time in the World in 4D, while Carpenter will appear in The Goodwin Games opposite Scott Foley and Becki Newton. What about Shawn, Eric, Feeny and the other cast members of the original? Will anyone else return for the new series? Show creator Michael Jacobs has stated “Whoever wants to be part of this show will be and whoever wants to move on will,” leaving the door open for anyone and everyone to come back in some capacity in the future.

Will Cobie Smulders reprise her role as Maria Hill in the new S.H.E.I.L.D. TV series? How I Met Your Mother was picked up for a ninth season, but in an interview with iamrogue.com Smulders said; “The commitments to [How I Met Your Mother] don’t affect it” and “I can’t really say, but there are definite talks about it.” Smulders will play Maria Hill again in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. The S.H.E.I.L.D. pilot is currently being filmed with The Avengers director Joss Whedon behind the camera and fan favorite Clark Gregg reprising the role of Phil Coulson to headline the new series. Whedon wrote the pilot along with Maurissa Tancharoen and Jed Whedon, his writing partners on Dollhouse and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

Last week How I Met Your Mother returned with its new season and once again dangled the mother in front of the audience without revealing much more about her. Will we meet her in the season (series?) finale? At that point will it even matter? Personally I’d like to see Ted’s relationship with the mother take off and grow. If we only get a minute with the mother it will feel like such a copout. Anyhow, for a first time in the show’s history all of the characters are paired up in relationships with three of them doomed for failure. It should be a fun ride seeing how over the course of the season said relationships crash and burn.

Official Description, “The Pre-Nup”: Barney’s extensive and comprehensive prenup leads the guys to put forth their own relationship principles, which their significant others do not find agreeable. Meanwhile, an incensed Quinn responds with her own prenup.

The episode airs at 8pm on CBS, followed by the new series Partners. What else do you have to look forward to tonight?

I know I’ve been talking about How I Met Your Mother a lot lately, but the show has been on its game week after week. The sitcom has a great balance of funny and touching real life moments with a cast that I want to be friends with. Tonight’s episode airs at 8pm on CBS; “Ted and Barney make a life-altering decision; and Robin tries to talk Lily and Marshall out of moving to Long Island.” It’ll be nice to see some action on my old stomping grounds, Long Island. I’ve said for a long time that I’d love to see the show shift focus from the City to Long Island. I can picture the cast and show growing into a more traditional sitcom and could this be a hint that they are moving in that direction?
