Hey everyone, sorry for the slowing down of updates lately, but we’ve had some Internet connection issues we’ll we have been traveling. Things should stabilize soon (…hopefully). In the meantime, here is an all new Pit!

After a pretty epic Wrestlemania match, Edge shocked WWE fans by retiring. Taken out of the game by a reoccurring injury that has been getting worse with every match. The fan favorite has had a pretty awesome career and if he is being forced to retire, at least it is after an impressive last match.  Hopefully he stays with company and on camera as a GM or announcer. But there are a ton of roles he could ultimately take on, including as a trainer, road agent, manager, etc. Whatever he decides to do, we wish him all the best and thank him for years of entertainment!

Scream 4 came out this past weekend and I can’t express how happy I am to have a horror movie that is not torture porn in theaters. I’m a big fan of the series and Ghostface, and to see them on the big screen after so many years just felt great. Big props to Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson and everyone involved for delivering an entertaining thrill ride. Finally, a worthy end to the series.

Out of all of Neil Gaiman’s works, American Gods wouldn’t by my first choice to get adapted for TV, but regardless it is on its way to becoming a fantasy series for HBO. Gaiman is working with Oscar-winning cinematographer Robert Richardson to bring the series to life. Sadly, there is no new word about a Sandman series coming at us anytime soon. Maybe if Gods does well enough?

After taking American Wedding off, Chris Klein will be returning for the next theatrical American Pie flick, American Reunion. He joins Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Eugene Levy and Alyson Hannigan, who have all signed on to return. The franchise has been releasing a steady stream of American Pie Presents… titles straight to DVD, but this is the first sequel to go the theater route since Wedding in 2003. I can’t wait to see the gang get back together.

vampire diaries season2

Tonight marks the return of the CW Network’s smash vampire hit The Vampire Dairies. The romantic (and sometimes cheesy) series is from Kevin Williamson, who wrote the first two Scream films and created Dawson’s Creek along a long list of other films and television shows. The series stars Ian Somerhalder (Lost, Young Americans) and Paul Wesley (Everwood, Guiding Light) as two vampire brothers with a long history that are fighting over the affections of Nina Dobrev’s good-hearted (and human) Elena. You might remember Nina from Degrassi: The Next Generation.

This season of The Vampire Diaries promises a lot more action, romance, drama, and blood (not nearly as much sex or blood than True Blood, but what can you do). (possible spoilers) Continuing from the end of last season, we have been introduced to Katherine, the original woman who Somerhalder’s Damon and Wesley’s Stefan fought over.  Unlike Elena, Katherine has a mean streak and is not someone you want to cross.  Oh, and she is non too happy about the guy’s feelings for Elena. Just because they look alike, doesn’t mean that they are alike.

The new season premieres tonight on the CW at 8pm. It is followed by the premiere of the CW’s new action spy-drama Nikita, based (and semi continuing) off the movie and television series from the 90s.

What else is on today? I love how the end of the summer season now blends into the new fall season. They don’t give us any break.

Emma Roberts Joins Scream 4

Emma Roberts has joined Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox-Arquette, and David Arquette in Wes Craven’s Scream 4. Roberts is rumored to be portraying Campbell’s high school aged cousin in the horror flick, and the central character in the new film. From the above picture, I could definitely see a family resemblance.

While this is the first official casting, other rumored casting has included Lake Bell as a Wosoboro cop, Hayden Panettiere as a film geek, and Ashley Greene and Rory Culkin in unknown roles. We have no real confirmation if any of these will actually pan out. Personally, I hope that Hayden Panettiere is no where near this film.  Especially not in a Randy-like role.

Am I the only one that wants to see Patrick Dempsey’s Detective Mark Kincaid and Heather Matarazzo’s Martha Meeks return? Having a detective in the mix would help as the murder mystery unfolds, and if we can’t have Randy, than his kid sister is the next best thing.

I’m sure we’ll be hearing a lot more casting news in the near future as the film starts lensing in June in Michigan.  Kevin Williamson penned the script.

Scream 4, David Arquette and Courtney Cox Return

It is official, David Arquette and Courtney Cox-Arquette will be reprising their roles of Dewey Riley and Gale Weathers in Scream 4. Kevin Williamson is currently penning the script, while Wes Craven has kept the door open for a possible return to the director’s chair.

Not much is known about Scream 4‘s plot, but Kevin Williamson has said that it would be the start to a new trilogy of films, and that he originally intended to bring back Dewey, Gale, and Sidney. Sadly, Neve Campbell has said no to returning as Sidney Prescott. Maybe she’ll have a change of heart before they start shooting, or at least could still return for Scream 5 or 6 if they actually get made.

Now for some speculation.  Williamson was originally planning to bring Scream full circle and return to Woodsboro in Scream 3, before he dropped out of the project and new writer Ehren Kruger moved the setting to Hollywood. Could he use the idea in the new film? Focus on a new class at Woodsboro High School with Dewey as a consultant to the Sheriff’s office. This could allow for the return of some familiar faces, like Joseph Whipp’s Sheriff Burke, Wes Craven’s Fred the janitor, or Randy’s lovable but goofy sister Martha portrayed by Heather Matarazzo.  How awesome would it be to see her have a flashback to when she was younger and Randy used to talk about horror sequels with his pal Stuart Macher? That scene alone would make a new Scream trilogy worth it.

Sound off, what direction do you want to see a new Scream take? Should they even make one?

Bloody Disgusting scored a pretty cool update on the status of Scream 4.  Their unnamed sources confirm the report from last July that Wes Craven and Kevin Williamson are hard at work on early prep for a new entry in the Scream series.  Williamson is handling the writing duty on the film and there is a good possibility that Craven will return to direct the film.

The film itself is said to focus on a new group of young characters, most likely high school students like the original Scream. Apparently they are trying to get David Arquette, Courtney Cox Arquette and Neve Campbell to make cameos in the film.

Personally, I think that this is the best direction that they could go with the franchise. It would keep it fresh and offer a ton of possibilities for future films. Scream 3 was a bit of a mess with an over complicated storyline and unneeded deaths (poor Cotton). Thankfully Williamson will be back to write the film after he didn’t write part 3. That alone gives me a ton of hope for the new flick. I miss good horror.
