Last week’s episode of The Walking Dead proved that the zombie show is not just one of TV’s good shows, it is one of TV’s great shows, thanks to last week’s amazing, gut wrenching episode that left me (and I know pretty much everybody else) in tears at the very end. I will say this, The Walking Dead has quickly redeemed itself from the mistakes it made in the first season and has finally allowed itself to really transfer the genius of the comic book series to television screens.

In tonight’s episode, I cannot help but wonder just how far Rick will have fallen and how far Carl will rise thanks to the events of last week’s episode. I’m also looking forward to seeing the newly hinted, more hinged dynamic that is starting to develop between the far more sympathetic Merle and the Governor as I know they’re going to butt heads sooner rather then later. It is weird to say that for a zombie show, its most compelling elements are not the zombie kills and the tension that comes from the zombie action but the characters themselves. For what felt like a season finale episode, I cannot wait to see what happens next in this series- if it keeps up this trend, The Walking Dead could do the unthinkable and actually win an Emmy, something nobody would have thought possible for a show that’s initial draw was that it was a show with zombies. Kudos to the creative team, just, kudos!!!

Episode Description, “Say the Word”: Rick struggles after experiencing another loss; Michonne has her suspicions about the Governor, who throws a party for the people of Woodbury, but gives it an unusual twist.

The Walking Dead

After two awesome episodes that have gotten both great ratings and positive reviews, AMC has gone ahead and renewed The Walking Dead for a 13 episode second season. The series has been breaking cable records with high ratings in adults 18 to 49 and had the biggest premiere ever for the Fox International Channels.

The comic series by Robert Kirkman was brought to television by producer and director Frank Darabont and stars Andrew Lincoln, Jon Bernthal, Sarah Wayne Callies, Laurie Holden, Jeffrey DeMunn, Steven Yeun, Emma Bell, and Chandler Riggs. The third episode of the six episode first season airs this Sunday at 10pm.

The comic is also at a creative high as it heads to issue 80 and “No Way Out”. Just when Rick was starting to feel safe, it looks like the walls will be caving in on his happy new neighborhood (literally!).

The Walking Dead TV SeriesSo, you don’t get AMC on your television?  Sadly, the home of such shows as Mad Men and Rubicon doesn’t air their episodes online… that is until now (and just this once). AMC’s has posted the pilot episode for its newest show The Walking Dead (based on the best ongoing comic currently on the market) online!

The series follows a Sheriff’s deputy, Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) who is injured in the line of duty and is put into a coma. When he wakes up, he finds that the world has been overrun by zombies and his family is missing. That is all that I’m going to say, the series is really good. If you have AMC and just missed that episode, than you should watch it online.  If you don’t get AMC I feel your pain, but watch the pilot online and then find a friend that gets AMC. You have to know someone that gets it. Anyhow, you can watch the pilot episode here. The episode will be available online until 9pm pst on November 23rd, 2010. Also, you can head over here to check out the first volume of the graphic novel adapted into a motion comic. I have no idea how they do this, but it is truly outstanding.

The Walking Dead

The best ongoing comic series on the market, The Walking Dead, is making the leap to television next weekend!  AMC and writer/director Frank Darabont, along with the comic’s creator Robert Kirkman, are bringing the series’ black and white pages to life.  I must admit, the casting is pretty spot on and the trailers have given me a lot of hope.  Also taking into account AMC’s great track record (including one of my favorite current shows and three time Emmy winning best drama Mad Men), us fans should not really be nervous about the series.

Here are three new pictures from the series’ first couple of episodes:
