I’m a huge fan of Law & Order, and I was beyond sad when the original series ended. I was excited to see that they are premiering a new Law & Order series this year. It’s called Law & Order: Los Angeles. I will watch the pilot out of loyalty to the original show, but I will watch under the assumption that it’ll provide good drama. If it doesn’t, I’ll scrap it. I do have my doubts about whether or not it will even last a full season because the series has already made several successful spin-offs, and I’m not sure that this new one will bring anything different to the table.

Last week, I found out that Skeet Ulrich is starring in the new series. I like Skeet. He’s super cute, and I’ve been a fan since I saw him in Scream back when I was in high school. I read online that Alfred Molina (cool), Terrence Howard (not bad), and Regina Hall (awesome!) are all set to appear in at least one episode. I hope Terrence, Alfred, and Regina all have recurring roles.

The show will premiere on Sept. 29th on NBC, and my mom and I will watch it on Satellite tv in Texas.

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

Just wanted to make a quick article with some of the awesome TV casting news from the past week. More news soon…

  • Linda Hamilton, aka Sarah Connor, has been cast as Chuck’s mother on Chuck.
  • James Marsters will return as Braniac on the 200th episode of Smallville. Also on Smallville, Clark Kent will be getting a new partner at the Daily Planet, Cat Grant.
  • Joe Manganiello, werewolf Alcide, has been promoted to be a series regular on True Blood.
  • Alfred Molina has joined the cast of Law & Order: Los Angeles as Deputy DA Morales. Skeet Ulrich is the only other major character to be cast on the show.
  • SyFy shows Eureka and Warehouse 13 to have two cross over shows later this season. Claudia, Allison Scagliotti, will appear in an episode of Eureka and Fargo, Neil Grayston, will appear in an episode of Warehouse 13.

I love my Digital Video Recorder (DVR). Everyone always says, “I need more time.” Well, I can say, “I have more time” thanks to my DVR. I enjoy Law & Order and all of the Law & Order spinoffs including Law & Order SVU and Law & Order Criminal Intent. I even watch the reruns! Now, that’s a lot of Law & Order each week.

I became so obsessed that I had to limit myself to only 5 shows each week; this added up to 5 hours of my time. Now that I have a DVR attached to my Expert Satellite TV box I can record my shows and watch them when I want. I can even fast forward through the recap at the beginning of the series and all of the commercials. This saves me almost 20 minutes per episode or 100 minutes each week.

Although, the original Law & Order may be ending, a new spinoff set in Los Angeles is schedule to begin this fall. I will be ready to record it with my DVR. Maybe I can find a new series to watch with all my extra time.

anthony anderson on law and order

Law and Order has been renewed for a record breaking 21st season! This would make it the longest running prime-time drama, passing Gunsmoke. The series began in 1990 and starred Chris Noth and George Dzundza, and has had a ton of cast changes throughout the years, including such talents as Paul Sorvino, Jerry Orbach, Benjamin Bratt, Jesse L. Martin, Fred Thompson, and Dennis Farina.

The series currently stars Jeremy Sisto and Anthony Anderson on the detective side, with Sam Waterston, Alana De La Garza, and Linus Roache on the DA side.  Waterston has been in 358 episodes of the series as A.D.A. Jack McCoy, and has also crossed the character over into Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, Law & Order: Trial by Jury, and Homicide: Life on the Street.

I love Law and Order, and I’m glad to see the original continue into the future. It is one of the few shows that I don’t have to watch regularly, but I can jump in at any time and enjoy it. It doesn’t matter if it is a new episode, or a rerun, the stories speak for themselves. Happy to see it continue? Wish it would just end already?

Jeff Goldblum Joins Law and Order

Tonight’s TV isn’t that bad. Well, not as bad as it was last week. How can it be bad when we have a new Law & Order: Criminal Intent starring the one and only Jeff Goldblum?  In tonight’s episode, Detective Nichols is investigating the murder of a drug dealer who was planning on leaving town. Catch the new episode on NBC at 9pm.

The Pit, My Hollywood Dream Column

It has been a while since I posted The Pit and things have been pretty slow recently (with the TV season ending and are any films even shooting?). Here is a new and slightly beefy-er edition of The Pit. Enjoy!

  • It is official! Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni will both be returning for the 11th season of Law & Order: SVU. Unlike the other Law & Orders, I can’t imagine SVU without Hargitay and Meloni. Their characters and chemistry separate SVU from the Criminal Intent and the original L&O.
  • Awesome awesome awesome Lost news! We’ll be getting a full extra hour in the sixth (and final) season! The producers felt that they needed a little extra time to tell the whole story. I’m game for how ever much time they need.
  • The hip hop magazine Vibe will be closing its doors, according to the New York Times, and the recession is to blame. Or is it another sign of the print medium dying?
  • Will Dimension Films be remaking or franchising An American Werewolf in London? While I wouldn’t mind seeing another semi sequel like An American Werewold in Paris, I’d hate it if they just tried to remake the original.  Not only does it hold up well with time, but it’d be impossible to improve it, so what would be the point?
  • It has been a while since I’ve reported any 90210 news (and sadly it looks like neither Dylan nor Brandon will be coming back next season), Abercrombie and Fitch model Trevor Donovan has been cast as Teddy, a pretty boy tennis player and son of a movie star. Could he be the guy driving the car that witnessed Annie run over something in the season finale? We’ll find out on September 8th, when the second season of 90210 begins.
  • Speaking about casting, I really like the idea of Noah Wyle leading a group of soldiers and survivors against an unknown alien force in Steven Spielberg and TNT’s upcoming sci-fi series.  Between this and V, it looks like aliens are battling vampires for the entertainment monster spotlight.

Jeff Goldblum Joins Law and Order

With the current season of TV coming to an end, the tube is pretty bare. For tonight, thankfully we still have Jeff Goldblum catching criminals on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In tonight’s all new episode, Nichols and Wheeler are investigating the death of a con man who just scammed a lonely single mother.
