Summer Glau is a Terminator

While Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles doesn’t return to television until February 13th (when it will be teamed up with Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse), that doesn’t mean we don’t have something to keep our attention. Executive producer and head writer Josh Friedman is hosting a weekly podcast that features a mix of raw footage, interviews and previews of upcoming episodes. So far, three have been released. The third one is easily the most interesting of the batch and features a dream-like sequence between Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and Kyle Reese (Jonathan Jackson), the first screen time that they have shared in the series.

This past week, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Knight Rider, two shows that were rumored to be heading for cancellation, were extended to full season orders.  Both shows are based on popular 1980s franchises and have been getting low ratings against tough competition.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles airs on Monday nights at 8pm against Chuck, Gossip Girl, The Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Dancing With the Stars, and Monday Night Football, which shares a similar demographic and takes a big chunk of the ratings.  Like a lot of other shows in the current season, Fox offers all the new episodes online, which makes it less important to see the show in its first run on television.  I think we’re finally seeing the full effect of airing episodes online for free with how many struggling shows we have this season.

Knight Rider airs on NBC Wednesday nights at 8pm against Pushing Daisies, Bones, America’s Next Top Model, New Adventures of Old Christine, and Gary Unmarried. While not nearly as competitive as Sarah Connor’s time slot, it still faces a tough variety of content; from Daisies stylized quirkiness to Bones’ intriguing cases and whatever the heck people see in Top Model. With rumors that David Hasselhoff will be guest starring in future episodes, I can picture a spike in the ratings, maybe even a big enough one to warrant a second season for the struggling action show.

Love them or hate them? Either way you have 9 more episodes to give them a chance.

There are a lot of new shows on tonight, but one in particular that is worthy of your time and needs your help is “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles”. The show, which features an alternate Terminator timeline that spun directly off of “Terminator 2: Judgement Day”, is an entertaining and action packed show that features Lena Headey (300) as Sarah Connor, Thomas Dekker (Heroes) as John Connor, Brian Austin Green as Derek Reese, a resistance fighter from the future and John’s uncle, and Summer Glau (Firefly) as Cameron, a Terminator reprogramed to protect John at all costs.

In tonight’s installment, “after a case of mistaken identity, John, Sarah and Derek work to protect a member of the Resistance.” To do so, they must infiltrate a military academy. The episode airs at 8pm on Fox.

Summer Glau is a Terminator

Tonight, “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” returns to Fox.  Five scenes from the premiere have been released on the show’s official website, and you can check out the season’s awesome teaser poster here.

The first episode of season 2 is titled “Samson & Delilah” and takes place directly after season 1’s clifhanger, where Cameron was caught in a Jeep explosion. The official description: “After the Jeep explosion, John’s 16th birthday makes him confront the fact that he’s destined to be alone. Meanwhile, after Cromartie’s massacre, Agent Ellison must face off against both the Feds and his faith.”
