Good Morning! Another week, another Pit! Grab a beverage, breakfast, sit back and enjoy…

  • Who are Hollywood’s hardest working actors? (Yahoo)
  • Read the first chapter of Somebody: The Reckless Life and Remarkable Career of Marlon Brando. An engaging look at Brando’s posthumous legacy. (New York Times)
  • If you perfer pictures to text, you can also read the full first issue of Mark Millar’s War Heroes. (Newsarama)

Writer Ed Brubaker, the man who killed Captain America, and artist Sean Phillips are teaming up with Marvel Comics for an interesting twist on the superhero genre with Incognito. The new series begins this week on January 2nd, and focuses on an ex-super villain who is in the Witness Protection program. I love the noir influenced art and intriguing lead character. The two preview pages below along with the core concept already have me hooked.

In mid 2000, writer Garth Ennis and artist Steve Dillion teamed up and brought us a ground breaking 12-issue mini-series focused on the Punisher, titled “Welcome Back, Frank”. The series was realistic, brutal and filled with black humor which helped to revive the character’s popularity. Now, almost nine years later, the team of Ennis and Dillion is reteaming for a special 6 issue sequel story arc titled “The Resurrection of Ma Gnucci”. I have less than a week (the issue hits stands on Wednesday) to pull out my old comic boxes from the attic, brush off the dust and re-read the old issues in anticipation of the new 6 part story. What is even more cool is that the story is shipping weekly, so we don’t have to worry about waiting a month between issues, or even worst, delays that could force us to wait months for the next issue.

Marvel Comics’ Official Description of the issue: The latest offering from the red-hot Marvel Knights line reunites the seminal creative team of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon for a special, weekly-shipping 6-part limited sequel to their legendary story arc, “Welcome Back, Frank.” It all starts when two mobsters take a trip to the zoo and piss off the wrong monkey. Limbs are lost (the kind you can’t easily replace), vultures are fed (with said appendages), and then things get, like, really crazy. Like back-from-the-dead crazy. That’s right — she’s back and she wants payback. Ma Gnucci. Eighty-five pounds of hairless, armless, legless evil.

The issue comes out on January 2nd, 2009.

Just posting a quick update to let everyone know that FOX has posted an official trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine! You can check it out here. Thoughts?

Wolverine and the X-Men is an all new animated version of everyone’s favorite mutant superheroes that will be premiering on Nicktoons early next year. Marvel just released this all new trailer for the series, which features the X-Men reuniting under Wolverine to fight Magneto, the Brotherhood, Senator Kelly, and Sentinels. The show feels like a nice blend of the 90’s X-Men: The Animated Series and the more recent X-Men: Evolution. I like it and I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Written by Daniel Way with pencils by Paco Medina, Deadpool #4 is the first part of “Say ‘Hi’ to the Bad Guy”. This two part story is a much better starting point for the new series which unfortunately began smack in the middle of Marvel’s universe wide crossover event “Secret Invasion”.  I’ve always liked Deadpool, aka the Merc with a Mouth, because hes a fun character who is usually thrown into off the wall (and over the top) situtations.

Marvel’s official description: His mission in “Secret Invasion” completed, Deadpool goes back to business as usual, completely unaware that he’s been sold up the river by a villain of incalculable guile — a villain who won’t soon forget — or forgive — Wade’s sins. As the Skrull War winds to its climactic conclusion, the Merc with a Mouth has no idea that the worst for him is yet ahead.

The issue comes out on November 19. Click these thumbnails to check out the full pages.

Punisher: War Zone hits theaters on December 5th, but in the mean time you can find a ton of Punisher related goodies for the Marvel Comics adaptation on its official website.

The site features a ton of content including trailers (normal and redband), behind the scenes footage, an interactive look at Frank Castle’s world (including more info than you ever needed to know about his various weapons of choice), downloads (wall papers, icons, myspace skins), and a multiplayer game that lets you have a hotel shoot out with other Punisher fans online.

You can check play the game directly by clicking here. And check out these gritty new pictures from Punisher: War Zone, featuring Ray Stevenson, Wayne Knight, Julie Benz, and Dominic West as Jigsaw. Click to enlarge.
