I’m really excited that the Avengers will be assembling, it just sucks that we have to wait three years for it to happen.

Marvel has revealed that a new Avengers animated series is beginning production to coincide with the releases of their live actions films The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers. The show will be titled The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and will be produced by Marvel Animation.

The series will feature the same team that is rumored to be taking center stage in the film adaptation; Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Ant-Man, and the Wasp. The heroes are forced to come together “when the planet is threatened by super villains, time traveling conquerors, alien invaders, mythical monsters and mad robots bent on the total destruction of humanity”.

Also in production from Marvel Animated are Wolverine and the X-Men, Iron Man: Armored Adventures, Marvel Super Hero Squad, and The Black Panther.

Secret Invasion #7, Marvel’s penultimate issue of their universe spanning Skull invasion was released today.  The issue was written by Brian Michael Bendis with pencils by Leinil Francis Yu.

Marvel Comics’ official description: “THIS IS IT!! The Marvel Universe versus the Skrull Empire – a battle of unity and spirit the likes of which the Earth has never seen. The comic event of the year starts its shocking conclusion.”

Personally, I’m waiting for the story in trade paperback.  After Civil War, I soured on waiting for months between cliffhanger issues and would prefer to read it all together.

Spiderman Meets Stephen Colbert

While Stephen Colbert might be one of the funniest men on TV in our world, in the Marvel Comics Universe Colbert is running for president.  But before he can make it to the election, he’ll have to team up with the amazing Spider-Man… to save the world? Face off with Venom? The Green Goblin?

Okay, so we have no idea what Colbert and Spider-Man will be teaming up for, but we know when and where it will be, October 15th in “The Amazing Spider-Man #573”. The special 8 page story is by Mark Waid and Pat Olliffe.

What does this mean for Colbert’s bid for the Presidency in the Marvel Universe? We’ll have to read and find out!
