Arnold Schwarzenegger announced yesterday that he would be returning to The Terminator franchise.  Rumor is that he would play a human character.  Arnold also revealed his plans to also star in the new Conan the Barbarian movie as well as a new Twins movie. Terminator 5 will start shooting in January.

Today comes news that Arnold would return to The Expendables 3.  Other Casting rumors for the new Expendables movie have Mel Gibson as the villain and Jackie Chan, Nicolas Cage, Wesley Snipes, and Milla Jovovich joining the cast.  Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, and Mickey Rourke are rumored to be reprising their roles from earlier movies. The Expendables 3 begins shooting in August.

Welcome to an all new edition of The Pit! Things have been a bit slow on the site lately, but will be gaining steam over the new few weeks. So, what is interesting this week in the world of entertainment?

  • Have you checked out the trailer for the Jodie Foster directed flick The Beaver, which stars Foster and Mel Gibson, in his first role since… losing his mind. The movie’s description sounds pretty engaging, “…story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life. Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track…until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.” Check out the trailer over here. Sadly for Foster, the movie keeps getting pushed back. It was originally going to come out in mid March, before getting pushed to April, and now May.
  • Has Die Hard 5 found its director? Deadline is reporting that big time commercial director Noam Murro, who also helmed the 2008 flick Smart People with Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Ellen Page, will be directing a script from Skip Woods. I’m not familiar with Murro’s commercial work (apparently his Halo stuff is pretty amazing), but having Woods write the script doesn’t give me much confidence in the sequel. Woods is credited with the terrible screenplays for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team, and Hitman.  I do want to see John McClane return. And what do we have to do to get Reginald VelJohnson back in the mix?
  • Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus has added Charlize Theron to a cast that already includes Noomi Rapace and the new Megneto Michael Fassbender. So, this movie was supposed to be the Alien prequel… is it still tied to Alien, or is it now something else?
  • This Monday on Jeopardy past champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter face off against the super IBM computer known as Watson. Will they be able to stop the destruction of the future as seen by way to smart robots in the Terminator? I’m putting my money on the computer.
  • Visitor Poll: What kind of television deal do you have? Do you have an Optimized Cable Company or use satellite? Sound off in the comments. Depending on how you are connected, you’ll have to know where to get accessories like a VGA cable or USB cables. Thanks!

Okay, this has to be my favorite Mel Gibson mesh-up so far (the Christian Bale/Mel Gibson “phone” conversation is a close second. I know, it is horrible to laugh at this horrific display, but this video is too funny. This is not safe for work, there is a lot of cursing and improper dialogue.

What should my hollywood dream give away in a contest next

Summer is officially beginning and we are preping our first July contest and we’d like to hear from you guys! Please post a comment below with which item you’d like us to give away in our next contest. Thanks!

  • “Dead Until Dark” by Charlaine Harris. This novel is the first in the Sookie Stackhouse series that the hit HBO series True Blood is based on. If you are unfamilar with the series, it is based around a small town in Louisiana and how it is effected after vampires “come out of the coffin” and into the public eye after a synthetic blood is developed.
  • Face / Off on Blu-Ray.  My favorite John Woo film stars John Travolta as an FBI agent who must do the unthinkable to stop an evil terrorist’s plan, he must become him.  The disc contains a bunch of special features that you’ll never watch including commentaries by the director/writers, deleted scenes, an alternate ending, the trailer and more.
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer season one DVD. The classic vampire series by Joss Whedon focuses on the slayer (Sarah Michelle Gellar), one girl in all the world that is chosen to fight vampires and other demons.
  • “Intensity” by Dean Koontz. In this #1 New York Times bestseller, a “young woman staying as a guest in a Napa Valley farmhouse becomes trapped in a fight for survival with a self-proclaimed homicidal adventurer, and races to warn his next intended victim. Unrelentingly terrifying, this book lives up to its name.”
  • Bee Movie on Blu-Ray. This charming animated film is from the mind of Jerry Seinfeld and co-stars the voice of Renee Zellweger. The disc contains a bunch of features including storyboards, triva, commentaries, deleted scenes, and an alternate ending.

And last but not least…

  • Chicken Run on DVD. This stop motion animation from the creators of Wallace & Gromit stars the voices of Mel Gibson and Timothy Spall. Included in the special features is a “read-along” of the script.

So, which of these items would you like to see us give away? Don’t forget to vote in the comment section of this article!
