Mile High HorrorEvery October in Denver Colorado is the Mile High Horror Film Festival. A festival that celebrates short indie horror flicks. The festival has taken 10 of their best pieces and have released them as an anthology feature film. Thanks to Indie Rights Movies, you can watch them for free online!

Description: TEN great short films curated by Tim Schultz… including: The Table, directed by Shane Free: Friends buy what looks to be an antique table before discovering it has a far more sinister purpose. Velvet Road, directed by L. Gustavo Cooper: In the racially charged South of the 1960’s the black population of a small town is blamed for the spread of a virulent plague… A Little Off the Top, directed by Adam O’Brien: A hair stylist and his long lost, famous client reunite for a styling session down memory lane with unpleasant consequences for one of them. White Room, directed by Chris Chitaroni: Like many youngsters, Cindy believed there was something ominous lurking within her closet. Unfortunately she was right. Bunny Boy, directed by Brandon LaGanke: When a young child walks home from school he encounters a strange-looking man in a full bunny costume laying in his back yard. The man is not moving and appears to be dead. Instead of fleeing, the child is intrigued and engages in a silent conversation. Little does he know, the man is not dead. On the contrary, he’s quite alive. Nursery Crimes, directed by L. Whyte: Rhymes with murder. Certified: In 1950’s rural America, a postman’s first day takes a terrifying turn when a precocious young girl tells him of her family’s horrible tragedy. Incubator, directed by Jimmy Weber: A young man wakes up in a bathtub full of ice and blood only to discover his problems have just begun. You’ve heard the urban legend… this is worse.

We are only a couple weeks from the release of Wonder Woman and I’m ready for Gal Gadot to take the spotlight and kick ass. This is the first female lead superhero flick of the DC Comics cinematic universe that started with Man of Steel and it is getting very positive buzz from critic’s and early screenings. Gadot is joined by Chris Pine and Robin Wright in an origin story for the Justice League member. Check out the teaser above and see the movie in theaters on June 2nd, 2017.

Excited? Check out these Wonder Woman comics to get ready for the flick…

At long last… and with much skepticism… the Justice League trailer is here.

Official Description: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

As exciting as it is to have these characters on screen together, the costumes feel off and while overall the vibe is lighter in tone, the movie is still so dark. The lack of Superman in the trailer is understandable, but it makes the team and movie feel so incomplete. Without Superman it is not the Justice League. One of Batman v Superman‘s biggest mistakes is now hurting any anticipation I want to have for the team up.

The movie hits theaters on November 17, 2017.

The classic teenage boy turned werewolf basketball star sci-fi comedy starring Michael J Fox. One of my favorite movies from the 80s.

Airing:

  • Monday February 27 at 4/3C

Strange Invaders

STRANGE INVADERS

Michael Laughlin’s 1983 sci-fi flick is a throwback to the b-sci-fi of the 50s. The flick stars Paul Le Mat and Nancy Allen.

Airing:

  • Saturday February 25 at 8/7C
  • Monday February 27 at MIDNIGHT/11C

SPECIES

Aliens don’t get much hotter than Natasha Henstridge, and sci-fi films don’t usually get a cast that includes Ben Kingsley, Forest Whitaker, Alfred Molina, and Michelle Williams. COMET TV is airing the first two movies in the Species series before the end of February.

Airing:

  • Tuesday February 28 at MIDNIGHT/11C

SPECIES II

Airing:

  • Tuesday February 28 at 6/5C

Killer Klowns

KILLER KLOWNS FROM OUTER SPACE

The 80s were good for campy horror and if you have not seen Killer Klowns from Outer Space, watch it on COMET TV! So good. I don’t even want to say much to spoil the movie.

  • Sunday February 26 at 4/3C

SHIFTED

It has been a while since we have spotlighted an indie film that you can watch online. Today we’re taking a look at an indie crime flick from Indie Rights Movies, SHIFTED. Directed by Michael Madison, the film stars Madison, Jill Wagner, Jeris Poindexter, Frankie Ray, and Vanessa Johansson.

Official Description: SHIFTED is a crime drama about a young man stranded in Los Angeles, who is forced to re-evaluate his life, while hunted by a corrupt, ex-employer.

Check out the crime film for free on YouTube, then come back and let us know what you think in the comments!

Independent films available to purchase online.

Poster: CHIPS

I’m not the biggest fan of remakes, but sometimes they jell and get a smile from me (The Brady Bunch in 1995, 21 Jump Street in 2012). Dax Shepard and Michael Peña are perfectly cast in the remake of the classic TV series, with Shepard also on directing duties. They are surrounded by an awesome supporting cast that includes Adam Brody, Kristen Bell, Vincent D’Onofrio, Jessica McNamee, Ryan Hansen, and Maya Rudolph. The movie comes out on March 24th, 2017. You can check out the trailer here.
