Last week How I Met Your Mother returned with its new season and once again dangled the mother in front of the audience without revealing much more about her. Will we meet her in the season (series?) finale? At that point will it even matter? Personally I’d like to see Ted’s relationship with the mother take off and grow. If we only get a minute with the mother it will feel like such a copout. Anyhow, for a first time in the show’s history all of the characters are paired up in relationships with three of them doomed for failure. It should be a fun ride seeing how over the course of the season said relationships crash and burn.

Official Description, “The Pre-Nup”: Barney’s extensive and comprehensive prenup leads the guys to put forth their own relationship principles, which their significant others do not find agreeable. Meanwhile, an incensed Quinn responds with her own prenup.

The episode airs at 8pm on CBS, followed by the new series Partners. What else do you have to look forward to tonight?

This is a strong comedy, unfortunately, like The Hangover Part II, it weakens itself as being apart of a very strong franchise. It is hard to believe that neither John Cho, Kal Penn, or Neil Patrick Harris have been able to explode as silver screen stars. The film features some hilarious running jokes and will please fans of the series. However, the film drags on in places and the usually hilarious NPH appearance (though they do poke fun of his personal life in a great way) is a little too short as he barely factors into the film’s plot like he did in the other two films and is regulated to more an “extend cameo” role.

Needless to say I saw this sober (I don’t smoke) and it would probably be much funnier under the influence unlike the other films, which were hilarious even if you were sober. Oh yeah, the 3D and Christmas settings were un-needed but I believe that’s part of the joke. All in all, this is one of the more solid comedies I’ve seen all year even if it’s weaker then Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle and Harold & Kumar Escape Guantanamo Bay.

I know I’ve been talking about How I Met Your Mother a lot lately, but the show has been on its game week after week. The sitcom has a great balance of funny and touching real life moments with a cast that I want to be friends with. Tonight’s episode airs at 8pm on CBS; “Ted and Barney make a life-altering decision; and Robin tries to talk Lily and Marshall out of moving to Long Island.” It’ll be nice to see some action on my old stomping grounds, Long Island. I’ve said for a long time that I’d love to see the show shift focus from the City to Long Island. I can picture the cast and show growing into a more traditional sitcom and could this be a hint that they are moving in that direction?

Tonight at 8pm on CBS is the return of Slapsgiving!  How I Met Your Mother celebrates Thanksgiving with the return of the “Slap Bet” and Chris Elliot guest stars as Lily’s estranged father. After it as a new episode of Accidentally on Purpose, but I think I’d rather turn on my TIVO afterwards and check out the new Heroes., which is also having a Thanksgiving themed episode.

How I Met Your Mother

Tonight at 8:30pm on CBS is an all new How I Met Your Mother. On tonight’s episode, Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) inexplicably leaves the gang’s local hangout, which leads the group to believe that he has a girlfriend. I’m pretty sure that the girlfriend thing is really a red herring and the truth is that his parents are in town. And I for one am excited to meet the Stinsons!
