The Mid-Week Pit, Wolverine, Star Wars, Lost, Harry Potter, Action Movies

Welcome to another (mid-week) Pit! After this post, the site will be going on a semi-hiatus for two weeks. During that time, you’ll still be getting your weekly wrestling recap, and maybe a review or two, but general news and opinions will be on hold. As usual, thanks for visiting and making the site a success!

  • Green Lantern‘s Kilowog has been revealed and sadly (like everything else about the film) it looks really bad. I’ve waited so long for a GL film, and I hate what it looks like so far. I hope they surprise me. Right now, I’m worried about DC Comics film adaptations in general.
  • The X-Men vs the Hellfire Club in First Class? Recent rumors point to Kevin Bacon playing Sebastian Shaw, and now even more rumors have been going around that Sarah Harding could be portraying either Selene. This fits in with the fact that Emma Frost, aka the White Queen, has a key role in the film.  Sadly, without Hugh Jackman in the film, we will not be able to have the iconic image of Wolverine in the sewer ready to save the team.
  • We talked about the Scott Pilgrim avatar creator the other day, but there is also a revamed Mad Men avatar creator (which is the bomb!). Check it out here.
  • Interested in making it big in Hollywood? What about a virtual Hollywood? Hollywood the Game is an awesome Hollywood Simulation where you write, cast, advertise, and making movies (and TV!). Check it out.
  • There is a new trailer for this weekend’s epic action film release, The Expendables. I want to see this movie right now, no, make that two days ago!

Persons Unknown

Actually, the better question might be; have you seen where Persons Unknown has gone? The series got off to a very slow (and anti-climatic) start, but with a strong premise, a stylized visual presentation, and interesting characters it showed potential. Then, NBC struck. I sat down to watch the show one day to find that it was moved an hour earlier without any notice (TV Guide didn’t even have this update), and the following week it was just gone.

That is what I thought until this past Saturday when I caught the last 5 minutes of a new episode.  Is it really hard for NBC to promote the timeslot change, or better yet, let the series ride out in the slot that it began in. Sure, the series might not be killing in the ratings department, but with constant time changes and no notice to viewers, they are alienating the few viewers the show does have.  Thankfully, we can check out new episodes online.  I’m going to catch up on the series, hoping that it hits its potential and that NBC will air the rest of the episodes giving it a proper ending. The newest three episodes are linked on Persons Unknown‘s 141tv profile.

Persons Unknown

Another summer week and what do we have to watch? Well, I really want to like Person’s Unknown, it has the potential to fill the void left by Lost ending. I love the Twilight Zone vibe the show gives off and stylistic-wise it works, plus the cast is not only likable, but is replaceable with a revolving door.  Just for me it has been a bit too slow. Most of the action has been around non-action. They drive away… They faint… They attack Asian men… Um, I need real action, real thrills. The third episode airs tonight at 10pm on NBC, I’ll still be watching, I just hope it gets better.

Also on tonight is the series final of Saving Grace. I never watched the TNT crime drama, but I thought I should note its end after three seasons. The first of the last two new episodes airs at 9pm with the final airing at 10pm.

Is there anything else to watch?

  • ABC: The Bachelorette (Reality)
  • FOX: Lie to Me (Drama)
  • ABCFAM: Secret Life of the American Teenager (Teen Drama)

  • FOX: The Good Guys (Crime Comedy)
  • NBC: Last Comic Standing (Reality)
  • FOOD: The Best Thing I Ever Ate (Cooking)
  • TLC: Cake Boss (Cooking)

  • ABC: True Beauty (Horrible Reality)
  • FOOD: Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives (Cooking Docu)
  • MTV: The Hard Times of RJ Berger/Warren the Ape (Comedies)
  • TBS: Neighbors From Hell (Animated)
  • TLC: Inedible to Incredible (Cooking)

Persons Unknown

What to watch? What to watch? The summer has only just started, but it feels like the TV well has already dried up. Yeah, I know, the World Cup is on and suddenly everyone is a soccer fan. Well, I still would like to enjoy some normal non-sports related entertainment.

Sure, I’m going to give the new episode of Persons Unknown (10pm on NBC) a chance. The first episode was okay, a bit too slowly paced, but has a likable cast and I’m always down for a mystery.  Maybe tonight will have a bit more action.  I never quite got into Tim Roth’s Lie to Me (8pm on Fox), nor have I been compelled to check out the new cop dramedy The Good Guys (9pm on Fox), which stars Colin Hanks.

Sweet things to say to your girlfriend is not what you’ll learn from tonight’s new episode of The Bachelorette (8pm on ABC).  No matter how bad Bachelorette is, it is no where near as unwatchable as True Beauty (10pm on ABC). In terms of reality, the only show I can stand is Last Comic Standing (9pm on NBC), but even that gets repetitive and boring.

The CW has reruns of 90210 and Gossip Girl (8pm and 9pm), while CBS has reruns of How I Met Your Mother, Rules of Engagement, Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, and CSI: Miami (8pm through 10pm).

Over on Cable; TNT has a new episode of Saving Grace (10pm), but I’ve never watched it in the past and I’m not going to start now, TBS has Neighbors from Hell (10pm), ah, I can’t say I’ve ever heard of that one,  ABC Family has a new episode of Secret Life of the American Teenager (8pm), and MTV has back to back new episodes of The Hard Times of RJ Berger and Warren the Ape (10pm and 10:30pm).

So, what am I going to watch tonight?

  • 8PM: 90210 (rerun)
  • 9PM: Last Comic Standing
  • 10PM: Persons Unknown

What will you be watching tonight?
