Written by Daniel Way with pencils by Paco Medina, Deadpool #4 is the first part of “Say ‘Hi’ to the Bad Guy”. This two part story is a much better starting point for the new series which unfortunately began smack in the middle of Marvel’s universe wide crossover event “Secret Invasion”.  I’ve always liked Deadpool, aka the Merc with a Mouth, because hes a fun character who is usually thrown into off the wall (and over the top) situtations.

Marvel’s official description: His mission in “Secret Invasion” completed, Deadpool goes back to business as usual, completely unaware that he’s been sold up the river by a villain of incalculable guile — a villain who won’t soon forget — or forgive — Wade’s sins. As the Skrull War winds to its climactic conclusion, the Merc with a Mouth has no idea that the worst for him is yet ahead.

The issue comes out on November 19. Click these thumbnails to check out the full pages.

Warner Brothers have released another awesome poster for their upcoming adaptation of Watchmen.  Click on the poster to enlarge…

The movie hits theaters on March 6th, 2009.

Writer/director Kevin Smith returns to comics with Batman: Cacophony, a three issue limited series that focuses on the Dark Knight.  Smith is no stranger to comics with critically acclaimed runs on Daredevil and Green Arrow, but the talented writer is also known for long delays between issues (Spider-Man/Black Cat: The Evil that Men Do and Daredevil/Bullseye: The Target are prime examples). With Cacophony being only three issues, I don’t think we’ll have the delay problem here.

The issue hits stands next week on November 11th, with art by Walt J. Flanagan and Sandra Hope. Here is DC Comic’s official description:  Best-selling comic book writer/director Kevin Smith steps into Gotham City to write this 3-part miniseries event! Practically from out of nowhere, the mysterious masked killer known as Onomatopoeia returns and sets his sights – and sounds – against The Caped Crusader!

Secret Invasion #7, Marvel’s penultimate issue of their universe spanning Skull invasion was released today.  The issue was written by Brian Michael Bendis with pencils by Leinil Francis Yu.

Marvel Comics’ official description: “THIS IS IT!! The Marvel Universe versus the Skrull Empire – a battle of unity and spirit the likes of which the Earth has never seen. The comic event of the year starts its shocking conclusion.”

Personally, I’m waiting for the story in trade paperback.  After Civil War, I soured on waiting for months between cliffhanger issues and would prefer to read it all together.
