Release Date: October 27, 2017
Studio: Lionsgate
Director: Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig (Undead, Daybreakers)
Cast: Tobin Bell, Matt Oassmore, Callum Keith Rennie, Laura Vandervoort, Mandela Van Peebles, Clé Bennett, Hannah Emily Anderson
Plot: Bodies are turning up around the city, each having met a uniquely gruesome demise. As the investigation proceeds, evidence points to one suspect: John Kramer, the man known as Jigsaw, who has been dead for ten years. (IMDB)

Thoughts: For the past seven years there has been a void on Halloween without a new Saw release.  Yet at the same time, after seven movies the series needed a break and to come back refreshed and ready to scare audiences. It is great to see Tobin Bell return to anchor the movie and the trailer brings back the same disgusting/gore porn you’d expect from the series. If you are a fan of the Saw movies, go see this, otherwise what is the point?

A beautifully shot and acted film. The budgetary limitations did cause noticeable problems particularly in the story of the film, which is a bit of a  disappointment.

A great little claustrophobic film. The film succeeds as one of the best thrillers of the last decade as the writing and directing were phenomenal. Ryan Reynolds proves that he is more than a one bit actor. As Paul Conroy, this is the film that Reynolds has been searching for to truly show is dramatic chops. A must see.

Easily one of the worst in the series. This is a poor way to close the world’s highest grossing horror franchise. It’s a shame the series has gone so far downhill since the first movie came out. A disappointment all around, even the film series’ one redeeming quality – the traps – sucked here.
