So much going on in the world of TV, lets focus on some of that today!

  • Steven Spielberg’s upcoming TNT sci-fi series Falling Skies finally has a release date! It will launch with a 2 hour premiere on June 19 at 9pm, than ove into a regular Sunday 10pm timeslot. The new alien centered series stars TV vet Noah Wyle (ER). If it is half as good as Spielberg’s past sci-fi TV effort Taken, I’ll be tuning in.
  • TNT has also announced dates for the new seasons of its original programming. Men of a Certain Age with Ray Romano and the great Scott Bakula returns on June 1st at 10pm for the last 6 episodes of its second season. June 1st will also see the premiere of Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Saved by the Bell) legal series Franklin Bash. It will have a 10 episode first season. June 14th will see the launch of new seasons of both the Jason Lee starer Memphis Beat and the Jada Pinkett Smith hospital drama Hawthorne, where she is joined this season by singer/actor Marc Anthony. June 26th sees the return of crime series Leverage and July 11th is the start of new seasons of veteran shows The Closer and Rizoli & Isles.
  • I wonder who would play Charlie Sheen in a TV Movie about this rise/fall and “winning”? Sheen has endorsed Rob Lowe to take over for him on Two and a Half Men… he might make a good Charlie Sheen though. Hmmmm. Maybe Sheen could even finance the movie, he just filed a law suit against Warner Brothers for 100 million dollars. Dr. Evil style yo.
  • My Future Girlfriend, the new webseries from the creators of We Need Girlfriends finally has a release date! Ragtag Productions will release the first episode of the five episode sci-fi influenced series on April 1st! Hopefully we’ll get a teaser to post soon!
  • This past Monday House took on zombies in a dream sequence and back at Halloween we saw Community faced with a zombie like invasion, what other shows would you like to see the characters take on zombies in? How would members of The Office fare? I think the doctors at Grey’s would get eaten pretty quickly. Chuck and company would easily defend the Buy More from the undead. Sound off in the comments with what shows and characters you’d like to see face a zombie invasion!

Men Of A Certain Age

Tonight is the return of Ray Romano to television in TNT’s Men of a Certain Age.  The series co-stars Andre Braugher and sci-fi legend Scott Bakula.  The show focuses on three old college buddies who are now in their fifties. One of them is married, one is divorced, and the other is single, but they are all trying to figure out the same thing; what is next in life.  I was a fan of Romano’s Everyone Loves Raymond and I’m glad to see him returning to the small screen. And I absolutely love Scott Bakula, from Quantum Leap to Enterprise, and most recently as a recurring star on one of my favorite shows on television Chuck, the man can do no wrong.  While I am as far from these guy’s situation as can be, I’ll give the show a chance. Chuck Finale on NBC. Save CHUCK!!!Tonight at 8pm on NBC is the second season finale of Chuck. The show is consistantly one of the most entertaining shows on television, but is sadly on the bubble for renewal. I hope everyone takes the time to check out the finale and help it get the ratings that it deserves. Watch it live, Tivo it, DVR it, then watch it again online!

Tonight, a lot of stuff is coming to ahead; the wedding of Ellie and Awesome, Chuck and Sarah’s relationship, and the war between the government and Fulcrum. Add to that a list of great guest stars including Scott Bakula, Chevy Chase, Morgan Fairchild, Tony Hale, Bruce Boxleitner, and Matthew Bomer returns as secret agent (and Chuck’s ex-college roommate) Bryce Larkin!

If you are new to Chuck, you’ll still be able to enjoy the action and witty comedy.  You can catch up on past episodes on Hulu, by clicking here. Currently they are streaming 12 episodes (episodes 11 to 21 of the current season). You’ll be able to fill in any missing gaps through the IMDB.

If you’d like some info on how you can help save Chuck, you can check out one of these Save Chuck Twitters (SaveChuck and Save_Chuck), or this Facebook group, the Sidereel site, the GiveMeMyRemote Campaign, and of course you can sign one of these petitions (Petition Spot and You Choose).

And finally, have you ever seen an actor lead a couple hundred fans to one of their show’s main advertisers to help save their show? This is going above and beyond!

What else is on TV tonight?

  • Nothing. Watch Chuck!

Okay, Everyone Loves Raymond is not returning to television, but Ray Romano will be!

The comedian/actor will be starring in and producing Men of a Certain Age for the TNT Network. Romano will be producing along with Mike Royce, who executive produced Everyone Loves Raymond with him.

According to Variety, the series focuses on “three fortysomething college buddies who are each coming to terms with a midlife that doesn’t live up to their previous expectations.”

Co-starring in the series is Andre Braugher (Homicide: Life on the Street) and Scott Bakula (Quantum *freaking* Leap).

The dramedy is currently signed up for 10 episodes, but I’m sure we’ll be seeing more. The network is eying January 2010 for the show’s premiere.
