Charmed

Charmed ended in 2006 after eight successful seasons on the WB. The series focused on three sisters; originally Holly Marie Combs, Alyssa Milano, and Shannen Doherty as Piper, Phoebe, and Prue Halliwell, but Doherty left the show after season 3 and was replaced by Rose McGowan as Paige. It is over a decade since the show ended and the CW (which replaced the WB) is eyeing a reboot prequel series.

TV Line reports that the new series will take place in 1976 and focus on three witches fighting evil in a small New England town. While none of the original actors are attached to the new series (yet?) there are possibilities that they can connect the shows via time travel (which occurred on the original series), or by having the characters appear as kids (maybe a demon is hunting future witches). In the very least the new show has to include a cameo by Holly Marie Combs, who was the only star of the show to appear in every episode. The show is being brought back to life by Jennie Snyder Urman, an executive producer of the CW’s Jane the Virgin.

If you are bummed that none of the original characters are slated to return, back in 2010 there was a comic series that continued the story of the Halliwell sisters and took place after the TV series finale. Zenescope Entertainment created two “seasons” of the comic, which spanned 44 issues. The series ended last September, with no news if the comic will continue with a season 11.

Charmed Comic Book

Okay, so I stopped watching Charmed at some point in its first season. The show was cheesey and never reached the level of Buffy, no matter how hard it tried. It had some bright points and some great casting with Alyssa Milano, Julian McMahon, and Holly Marie Combs, but the show was never as good as it could be.

So why am I previewing this new comic based on the series? I’m intrigued by it. The comic continues from the end of the TV series (much like the Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 8 comic from Dark Horse), and they have an opportunity to fix the problems of the series. Unlike TV, comics have no budget constraints. They could bring the magic and fights to new levels. Bring back characters that had actors who refused to return (was the series ever the same without Shannen Doherty’s Prue Halliwell?). Now, I have no idea if they are going to do that or put enough love into this comic to make it special and stand out. But they can.

The new series is written by Paul Ruditis and Raven Gregory, with art by Dave Hoover. None of them were part of the 8 seasons of the TV series, but Ruditis has written multiple Charmed novels (which you can buy at the links below). The first issue hits stands tomorrow, June 3rd.

The next new episode of 90210 will be airing on Tuesday, January 6th. The CW network has released a new promo scene from the episode that features Kelly (Jennie Garth) and Brenda (Shannen Doherty).

In tonight’s all new episode of 90210, “Games People Play”, Kelly Taylor (Jennie Garth) returns from her trip to see Dylan with some interesting news, Annie (Shenae Grimes) and Ethan (Dustin Milligan) grow closer which sets off Naomi (AnnaLynne McCord), and West Beverly High is abuzz with news of Ryan’s (Ryan Eggold) leave of absence.

Just who is this dude? You’ll have to watch tonight’s episode to find out.

Good news for fans of the original 90210, Shannen Doherty’s Brenda Walsh will be heading back to the infamous zip code for at least 2 more episodes of The CW’s hit remake!

Access Hollywood broke the news, and also revealed that original cast member Jason Priestley (Brenda’s twin brother Brandon) has inked a deal to direct a future episode of the series. While Priestley has said that he has no plans to return in front of the camera on the show, I’m hoping that directing an episode will bring up some positive memories and he’ll in the very least make a cameo on the show.

Rumor has it that the Network is back in talks with Tori Spelling to reprise her role as Donna Martin. She was originally going to appear in the pilot, but ended up backing out over a contract/pay dispute. In addition to Spelling, the Network is also trying to get Luke Perry (Dylan, the father of Kelly’s son Sammy) to appear on an upcoming episode. Perry has been back and forth with the idea, but has been leaning towards staying away. But I am positive that the right amount of zeros could change his mind. Lets hope that they do…

Tonight at 8pm on The CW is an all new episode of “90210”.  I’ve been hearing rumors that tonight’s episode is chock full of goodies and tidbits from the original series.

The CW’s official description of tonight’s episode, subtitled Model Behavior; “Annie attends a fashion show her mom is photographing, where she’s approached by a film producer who offers her and Adrianna an audition. Meanwhile, Naomi tries to reunite her parents; and Kelly is contacted by an old pal who has her second-guessing her relationship with Ryan.”

Could the old pal be Dylan, the father of her son?

Tristan Wilds as Dixon on 90210 on The CW.

Tonight on The CW is an all new episode of “90210”.  “Annie, Harry, and Debbie are surprised to learn that West Beverly’s theater director can no longer oversee the school musical. Kelly persuades Brenda to take over as the play’s director, but they end up arguing over Kelly’s involvement with Ryan. Meanwhile, Dixon tries to get a part time job at the Peach Pit and Naomi confronts her father’s mistress” (TV).

Rumor has it that on tonight’s episode we’ll be learning the father of Kelly’s son. While I can not confirm or deny the rumor, if it is revealed tonight it gives me the vibe that the father is likely Brandon. Especially if Kelly and Brenda get into a heated argument about Kelly’s relationship with someone new. Of course, I could be wrong. We’ll have to watch to find out. But in the meantime, you can watch the first 4 seasons of the original series here.
