The Pit

The 2017 International Comic-Con in San Diego is in full swing, so what would be a better time to bring back The Pit?

Stargate PrequelStargate began on the big screen before moving to the small screen and spinning off into a number of different shows, and now is being revived as a digital series. Stargate Origins will consist of 10 episodes that are approximately 10 minutes long each and will follow the early adventures of Catherine Langford. The character was in the original movie and made scattered appearances in Stargate SG-1. The new series will be streamed on Stargate Command, a new subscription platform from MGM, and could be the first of many new adventures in the Stargate universe (hey, maybe they can eventually resolve the cliffhanger from Stargate Universes). Check out the teaser here.
The Walking Dead Comic-Con TeaserThe Walking Dead was back in Hall H at Comic-Con with a panel and new trailer for season eight. Go right ahead and watch the trailer for “All out War” (ripped form the pages of the comic) then come back and finish this article! Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead creator and producer, commented that the season will be “very action-packed and very fast-paced,” which would be a bit different than past seasons. Dead is known to draw out events and arcs from comic, so it will be nice to contain the war to season 8 (and the final shot in the trailer hints at this big time!).

Defenders Comic-Con ImageAugust 18. We are one month away from Marvel and Netflix’s Defenders. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist teaming up to save New York. First of course there is a new trailer. We get a great look at Sigourney Weaver’s villain along with our best look of the return of Elektra. The action and interactions between the four heroes is spot on and the series looks like it will be the perfect climax for the various Marvel/Netflix shows. Also discussed at the panel was the upcoming The Punisher series, which is spinning off from Daredevil’s second season and starring Jon Bernthal as the title character.

Have you been following this year’s Comic-Con? What have been the standouts for you?

From Warner Bros. Pictures, Blade Runner 2049 has Harrison Ford returning to his iconic role of Rick Deckard, and is joined by Ryan Gosling, a new blade runner in a much different future. The sci-fi sequel also stars Robin Wright, Dave Bautista, Jared Leto, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri, and Lennie James, with direction by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario, Enemy). It hits theaters on October 6th, 2017.

Thursday is an all new episode of Heroes. That is something I never thought I’d say again. Check out this new teaser for Heroes: Reborn.

The continuation of the popular superhero drama is this Thursday, September 24 at 8pm on NBC. Jack Coleman returns as HRG to lead a new group of heroes and villains, included in the mix is Chuck‘s Zachary Levi.

Catch up on Heroes with the past seasons…

Marvel Comics have released a teaser image for a 2011 X-men crossover, “X-Men First to Last”. Little is known about the upcoming event, but this image gives me a lot of hope (much more hope than the recent X-Men vs Vampires event).

This Friday, my personal favorite Lois Lane, Teri Hatcher, guests stars on the newest episode of Smallville. Hatcher will be portraying Lois’ mother, who passed away while Lois was just a child. Also guest starring in the episode is Julian Sands and the big screen Supergirl Helen Slater as Jor-El and Lara, Clark’s parents from Krypton. This is the first time we will see Jor-El and Lara together and the first time we will see the Jor-El from the Fortress and not just hear his voice. What change causes this to happen? You’ll have to watch the new episode on the CW this Friday to find out. Below is the episode’s preview.

The time is here! The Hoff returns to The Young and the Restless!

The Hoff on The Young and the Restless

Starting tomorrow, Tuesday June 15th, David Hasselhoff returns to the show that launched his career, The Young and the Restless. Hasselhoff steps back into the role of Dr. William “Snapper” Foster, who was last seen in Genoa City in 1982, before Snapper left to teach a three-month fellowship in London. Of course, like many soap characters who leave to do something overseas, he never returned.  The Hoff will be guesting on the show for 5 episodes, taking him through June 21st.  You can catch a video preview of Hasselhoff’s return.

Returning to the Soaps that made you famous seems to be an in thing lately. Nathan Fillion returned to One Life to Live last year, and now comes word that fan favorite Vanessa Marcil will be returning to the role of Brenda on General Hospital this summer.  In addition to big stars going back to soaps, there have been some recent movie stars making the first time jump to the genre, most notability James Franco’s General Hospital stint, which he’ll return to later this month. Franco will be returning to the daytime drama and will be taking with him veteran film and television actor Bruce Davison.

Will you be watching Hasselhoff’s daytime return? Excited about other stars returning and some making their daytime debuts?

This actually looks like it would be an incredible movie. It’s nothing like the original movies, which is a good thing. It’s dark and gritty with the gore from the games. Mortal Kombat doesn’t have the popularity it once had, but this movie could bring it back.

The video was directed by Kevin Tancharoen, who helmed the remake of Fame, and stars Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion), Lateef Crowder (Baraka), and Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage).

What is this video for? According to a Jeri Ryan tweet, “It’s not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film.”
