Chuck, NBC, Save Chuck

It is crunch time! NBC started to announce its schedule yesterday at a special “infront” presentation/news release. Missing from the announcement was any indication of Chuck’s fate. Rumors are making the rounds that it will be returning, but until we hear that from the peacock’s mouth, we can’t be sure, nor can we let up with the effort to SAVE CHUCK!

  • The most important, active, and up to date sources on all things “Save Chuck” related are the SaveChuck and Save_Chuck Twitter pages. If you are on Twitter, make sure to send messages to them and @NBC to show your support for our favorite spy/action/comedy/drama/romance!
  • Phasekitty sent me this link to the Unofficial Chuck Soundtrack. @justjody (on Twitter) took the time to put together an ultimate mix for Chuck fans by taking some of the best music used in the series and Give Me My Remote was kind enough to publish it with the music. While NBC might not be smart enough to push for an official soundtrack, at least we have this one to hold us off.
  • Don’t forget to take the time to send NBC a message through their online form, and while you are at it, send a message to Subway telling them that you just ate a $5 footlong to support Subway’s advertising on Chuck.
  • CNN took a look at fan’s efforts to save the series. As did too many news sites and blogs to count. Hopefully NBC has been doing some reading!
  • One of the best ways for us to be heard is to show how much we love the show. Register for the NBC message boards and post about how much you love the show! What network wouldn’t want to hear how much people love their show? This is one way to tell them directly and for others to see. The day after the final we signed up and started posting, as did a ton of other people. Lets keep this up.
  • Watch full episodes on Hulu and NBC.com and click on the ads. This shows directly that Chuck can be successful and financially sound in non traditional ways. We have to remind NBC that TV ratings aren’t everything. We’ll watch online, buy DVDS and shirts, and even footlong sandwiches!

So, what are you going to do to help Save Chuck?

Wow. There is a ton of stuff going on; television shows ending with characters dying left and right, and the “summer” movie season has begun a bit early this year. Here are some cool tidbits from the past week…

  • After a crazy 70 million dollar plus opening weekend, was there any question about if we’d see a 5th Fast and Furious movie? (E Online) My suggestions… Fast and Furious: Pit Stop or Fast and the Furious: Truck Route.
  • I LOVE b-sci-fi and b-horror and Mutant Chronicles looks like a perfect blend of both.  With Ron Perlman, Thomas Jane, Devon Aoki, and the great John Malkovich, we couldn’t ask for a better genre cast. (Yahoo) What do you think? Gonna try to catch it in theaters? Or wait to have a movie night?
  • My new way to waste time? My Brute. You set the match against friends or strangers and sit back and watch the little guys battle it out.
  • This has to be the best excuse I have ever heard anyone use for why they hit someone. Man, I love Woody Harrelson. (CNN)
  • Edgar Wright has started video production diaries for his new film adaption of the popular comic book Scott Pilgrim. You can check ’em out here.
  • If you are a Terminator fan, even if you gave up on the Sarah Connor Chronicles, you’ll want to watch the season two finale. I was pleasently surprised with the episode, which I think was the best of the series. Catch it while it is still online… (Fox)

Welcome to a new edition of The Pit.

  • This past week, George Clooney returned to ER. Did ya miss it? Well, you have one more day to check it out for free online. (NBC)
  • Looking for a community of writers/filmmakers? Or how about a Hollywood simulation? (Hollywood the Game)
  • Wow, The Late Show with Jimmy Fallon did good [really good] in its first week. Will he be able to keep up the momentum? (Variety)
  • Did you see Jon Stewart lay the smack down on Jim Cramer?  The little bald man didn’t see it coming… (CNN)
  • Check out the full first issue of Image Comics’ Proof, from Alexander Grecian, Riley Rossmo, and Tyler Jenkins. (Image Comics)

Have a wonderful Sunday!

In honor of tonight’s Academy Awards, I’ve decided that this week’s Pit will be Oscar themed! First off, don’t forget to check out the list of nominees for tonight’s show, and I hope that you have been enjoying Phasekitty’s reviews of all of the nominated flicks.

  • What films should take home which awards based on past years? Filmjerk makes their annual Oscar Handicap lists. (Filmjerk)
  • This year, The Dark Knight got snubbed for Best Picture and Best Director, but what are the best “Nerd” films that have gotten snubbed by the Academy in the past? (Topless Robot)
  • Tonight, either Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader, or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button will take home the Best Picture award. Before you make your prediction, you might want to check out this list of all the past winners. (Oscars)
  • Just because they have been nominated for an Oscar (and in some cases have won), doesn’t mean that these stars haven’t appeared in absolutely humiliating Japanese commercials. This is too funny! (Cracked)

Enjoy the show tonight!
