Clark Kent in Smallville season 8, Tom Welling

New photos have been released for the season premiere of “Smallville”, which airs on September 18th on the CW. The photos feature Tom Welling as Clark Kent, who appears to be powerless and beat down (as seen above), Justin Hartley, a series regular who protrays Oliver Queen (aka the Green Arrow), Alan Ritchson returns as Aquaman, and Alaina Huffman, the Black Canary. More after the jump…

A new trailer has been released for John Moore’s adaptation of the best selling video game, “Max Payne”. Mark Wahlberg is Max Payne, a former police officer turned DEA agent whose family was brutally murdered and is on the run from the police for a murder that he was framed for. Add in a conspiracy, cultists, and an assassin (played by the lovely Mila Kunis) out to avenge her sister’s death, and you have one hell of a thrill ride. I loved the game and I have high hopes for the film. Keep reading to watch the new trailer, along with links to the old teasers!

“I had seen so many book trailers which were exactly like every other book commercial you see: scary-voice-guy tells you what it says on the back of the book jacket. But none of those trailers ever invested you in the story. Or the characters.”

Brad Meltzer, the author behind popular DC Comics’ universe changing miniseries Identity Crisis and more recently, the Justice League of America, has created a film style trailer to advertise his new novel, “Book of Lies”. Meltzer told EW the above comment and went on to add that his goal “was to create the trailer for the greatest movie that didn’t exist. And then, like any independent film, I called in some friends. The goal was simple: we wanted to change how books are sold”

The friends that he called in to help were Joss Whedon (creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly), Damon Lindelof (Lost executive producer/writer), Brian K. Vaughn (writer of Y: The Last Man), among others. They all “star” in the trailer, which can be viewed here.

It is an interesting trailer (although with a bit of over the top cheese), but does it change the way books are sold?

I caught the trailer for “Everyone Wants to Be Italian” on YouTube completely randomly while jumping from video to video, and I am happy I did. The film looks like a charming and quirky (Italian) romantic comedy. The indie was written and directed by Jason Todd Ipson and will be opening up in limited release on September 5th. The film stars Jay Jablonski, Cerina Vincent, John Kapelos, John Enos III, Dan Cortese, and Penny Marshall.

The supporting cast in that trailer reminds me of my family. “What are you too good to be Italian?”

Sega has released their trailer for “MadWorld”, a noir comic book inspired video game for the Wii. This thing looks like a mean mix of Sin City, GTA and Streets of Rage. Although (and this could just be me) the action and characters seemed to get lost in the background making it very hard to tell what was going on. After hours of playing this, I think my eyes would explode.

EA Mythic, the company behind Spellbinder: The Nexus ConflictAliens OnlineStarship Troopers: Battlespace, and Dark Age of Camelot, are gearing up to release their newest Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG or MMO for short), Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning

The game features Realm vs. Realm gameplay combat, which means you’ll be fighting with and against other real players in a never ending war of the worlds. You can find out more info about the game at its official site and watch an awesome cinematic for the game below.

How long do you think it will be until they make this into a movie? In the very least an animated feature.
