I grew up with Steven Seagal’s action movies and I even stayed with them as they got progressively worse, then moved into the hip hop/rapper community. I finally had to stop following the aging action star as he turned himself into a joke with his A&E reality series Steven Seagal: Lawman and of course his energy drink Lightning Bolt.  What had happened to the guy who kicked ass in Out for Justice, Above the Law, and Under Siege? It was great to see him return to being badass in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete, and now he might be heading in the right direction again. Lawman is thankfully over, and Seagal will be starring in a new TV series, True Justice, a crime drama.

Now don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that True Justice is going to be a good show or even watchable, but I think it is a step in the right direction for the former action box office draw. Let the man do what he does best, hunt down criminals and break their arms.  I hope that the series finds a network (hopefully on Cable) that allows it to be as brutal as Seagal’s earlier films Out for Justice and Above the Law. I want to hear the breaking of bones, see the blood flying and at least get one or two beheadings.

Now, what do we know about the show? True Justice will be a 13 episode series where Seagal portrays Elijah Kane, the leader of an undercover team of Seattle cops who target the worst criminals in the North West. The type of villains that normal cops can’t touch.  Kane has a mysterious past, but is a man of principle. His team unleases its own unique brand of brutal street justice.  The first pictures and a trailer True justice have been released over on Moviehole. Will you be following Seagal to television?
