Batman Arkham Origins

Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to the hugely successful and critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City from developers Rocksteady. This is the first title in the series from new developers Warner Bros. Games Montreal.

The difference is not a big deal, but I’m afraid Origins feels like a copy and paste of Arkham City with very little added in terms of gameplay. The Bat-gadgets aren’t exactly an upgrade and no new combat has been added. The script is pretty decent, especially when you consider that Batman expert Paul Dini didn’t have any input on it. The voice acting is top notch with Troy Baker and Roger Craig Smith making more than worthy successors for Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill.

Batman Arkham Origins Penguin

As for other characters, Black Mask is severely and disappointingly underused. I liked some of the re-imaging of characters, such as Nolan North’s Cockney Penguin, who is a joy to behold. The new female Copperhead stands out as well.

I really did enjoy the game, but I felt it was too short. I completed the main story mode in under a week and when I came to load to do side missions I found the main story mode only makes up 30 per cent of the overall 100 per cent completion. Call me crazy, but I find that criminal. Games should be made to last, not just for online value as well as side missions. Like I said, Batman: Arkham Origins was enjoyable, but I couldn’t just shake the feeling that I’d been here and done it before. So I’d give it a…

It is that time again, get ready for another contest. This time, you have the chance to walk home with Bryan Singer’s adventure movie, Jack the Giant Slayer.

In the movie, giants are unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries and fight to reclaim the world as their own. A young man named Jack is forced to become a hero and to fight for his kingdom, friends and family, and the love of a brave princess. What chance does a teenager have against an army of giants?

Well, Jack might have a better chance at defeating them when you take control of the giant’s every move in the Jack the Giant Slayer app below! In addition to animated gifs that you control, there is a quiz that tests how brave you are (which could open a secret clip from the movie), and a Giant Soundboard which lets you play sound effects from the Giants which are featured in the movie (can you say, remix time?).

JACK THE GIANT SLAYER CONTEST

Now lets get to the contest and your chance to win the Jack the Giant Slayer Combo Pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Ultraviolet). The movie is based on the fairy tale “Jack and the Beanstalk”. Leave a comment telling us what other fairy tale you’d like to see made into an adventure movie and you will be entered into a random drawing to win the Blu-Ray! For a second entry into the contest, tweet about the contest with the hashtags #JackTheGiantSlayer and #MHD along with a link to myhollywooddream.com.

The contest is presented by Warner Brothers. The movie stars Nicholas Hoult, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane, and Eleanor Tomlinson. If you don’t win the contest, you can buy Jack the Giant Slayer on Blu-Ray and DVD on June 18th!

Disclaimer (and other Details)
This contest is only open to US and Canada residents with a valid address. Prizes can not be sent to a PO Box. Release Date: May 24, 2013
Studio: Warner Brothers
Director: Todd Phillips
Cast: Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis, Ken Jeong, John Goodman, Melissa McCarthy, Justin Bartha.
Plot: The Hangover Part III is the third and final film in director Todd Phillips’ record-shattering comedy franchise. This time, there’s no wedding. No bachelor party. What could go wrong, right? But when the Wolfpack hits the road, all bets are off.

Thoughts: I don’t think anyone saw the trailer for the first Hangover and thought to themselves “I see this becoming one of the funniest and most successful comedy trilogies of all time.” But here we are, four years after the first movie with two sequels and countless box office dollars later.

Now, the second movie in the series was a huge let down creatively. Story-wise it was identical to the original (save for a new setting), and all of the jokes felt tired and used. The trailer for Part III gives me a lot of hope that they recognized the mistakes of the second one and improved on them. Right from the description, “..no wedding. No bachelor party,”

Yeah, I’ll be there.

MAN OF STEEL

Release Date: June 14, 2013
Studio: Warner Brothers
Director: Zack Snyder (300, Watchmen)
Cast: Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni, and Richard Schiff.
Plot: A young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do.

But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.

Thoughts: I can not wait for Man of Steel to come out. Seriously. I know next to nothing about the movie. I’ve seen the trailer and we all know the very basics; origin story, Zod, and the suit looks a bit different. But I absolutely love the fact that I really don’t know much about the plot.

This is the polar opposite of the advertising of Iron Man 3, a movie that I have not seen but I feel like I know every beat of the movie. The cast is top notch, I love Snyder’s visual style, and more so than the actors that have come before him, Henry Cavill looks the part of Superman without even being in the suit.

Is it June 14th yet?

Chuck Me Out Logo

One of the many San Diego Comic-Con annoucements this past weekend including the all new Chuck community hub, Chuck Me Out! (incase you missed Comic-Con, you can watch the Chuck panel here)  Chuck Me Out! is a new site from NBC and the creators of Chuck that features all new videos, news, photos, and posters about the series along with message boards, videos, and exclusives for fans.

Included in the mix is a thermometer that is tracking views of Chuck episodes on NBC.com with a goal of 1 million streams.  Check out the link above and catch up on episodes of Chuck and lets help reach that goal in a record time!  I’m not sure why this isn’t up with the Hulu video of the Chuck Comic-Con panel, but Jeffster opened the panel! Click here to rock along with them!

Chuck on NBC

The 2009 San Diego Comic-Con is going to have a lot of panels, showcases, signings and events, but I wanted to take a moment to look at what is ahead at the con for one of My Hollywood Dream’s favorite shows, Chuck!

On Friday, July 24th, Zachary Levi will be apart of the TV Guide Sci-Fi Hot List and will be part of a Q&A with Johnny Galecki and Jim Parsons of The Big Bang Theory, Scott Peters and Scott Wolf from the new reboot of V, Rebecca Romijn of fall’s Eastwick, and Kevin Williamson the writer of Scream who is behind the new vampire series based on the book series with the same name, The Vampire Diaries.  This panel begins at 6:15pm in Ballroom 20.

Saturday the real fun begins! At 10am in Ballroom 20 (why so early?) is the Chuck panel.  It will begin with a five-minute retrospective highlight reel, then moderator Alan Sepinwall will present Josh Schwartz, Chris Fedak, Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Ryan McPartlin, Mark Christopher Lawrence,Vik Sahay, Scott Krinsky, Sarah Lancaster and Adam Baldwin. They’ll hold a Q&A and preview the new season.  While they will not have footage to show from the new season, they will definitly be giving away some much desired info on the direction of the new season (Super-Chuck?) and you never know when they might give away prizes like t-shirts or DVDs.

Following the panel, all of the cast members from the panel will be heading to the WB booth to sign autographs and chat with fans.  Don’t forget your camera, because this is your chance to snap a pic with your favorite cast member.

Also, keep an eve on the WB’s booth over the course of the whole convention, because you never known when they might be giving away Chuck related goodies. In the past I’ve taken home free Chuck comics and a really cool bag. If you are heading to San Diego, have fun at the con!

Terminator Poster

Everything about Terminator Salvation is getting better and better. Is it too late for them to change the title?
