IGN has a really cool first look at the all new video game based on X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  While I usually hate video games made after films, this game sounds brutal, bloody, and very true to character for the X-Men’s wild card. It is also being developed by Raven Software, the team that brought us Marvel Ultimate Alliance and X-Men Legends. Alliance and Legends are two of the best games ever made from comic properties.  I can’t wait to see what they do with Wolverine’s origin.

You can check out more pictures and IGN’s first look at the game here. While no release date has been announced, it’ll likely hit stores in May along with the film’s release.

Wolverine and the X-Men is an all new animated version of everyone’s favorite mutant superheroes that will be premiering on Nicktoons early next year. Marvel just released this all new trailer for the series, which features the X-Men reuniting under Wolverine to fight Magneto, the Brotherhood, Senator Kelly, and Sentinels. The show feels like a nice blend of the 90’s X-Men: The Animated Series and the more recent X-Men: Evolution. I like it and I’m looking forward to seeing more.

Lots of cool stuff is happening, here are a few things to read with your morning latte or tea.

  • Five new promo pictures have been released for the X-Men spin-off Wolverine. I can’t wait to see Hugh Jackman slash through a new crop of villains. (Spoiler TV)
  • NBC and Chuck have teamed up for a ton of addictive mini games based on the show. The newest one is Sniper School. (NBC)
  • God, I hope this crappy sequel to Beverly Hills Cop doesn’t get made. (Latino Review)
  • Do you have any interest in winning an awesome 21-disc DVD box set of Monty Python? (I Watch Stuff)
  • I’m not sure about you, but I suffer from “TiVo Guilt”. In fact, I feel like I should be watching something right now instead of writing this… (CNN)

Marvel Comics has released the official trailer for Hulk vs. Thor, a 45 minute animated movie that pits the two Avengers against each other in an epic showdown. Marvel promises that the movie will feature every major character from Thor’s universe as the Hulk rampages through Asgard.

The movie is being released straight to DVD and Blu-Ray in January of 2009 as part of HULK VS, which also includes Hulk vs Wolverine. Click to enlarge these new photos from the movie.

Secret Invasion #7, Marvel’s penultimate issue of their universe spanning Skull invasion was released today.  The issue was written by Brian Michael Bendis with pencils by Leinil Francis Yu.

Marvel Comics’ official description: “THIS IS IT!! The Marvel Universe versus the Skrull Empire – a battle of unity and spirit the likes of which the Earth has never seen. The comic event of the year starts its shocking conclusion.”

Personally, I’m waiting for the story in trade paperback.  After Civil War, I soured on waiting for months between cliffhanger issues and would prefer to read it all together.
