Welcome to an all new edition of The Pit! Things have been a bit slow on the site lately, but will be gaining steam over the new few weeks. So, what is interesting this week in the world of entertainment?
- Have you checked out the trailer for the Jodie Foster directed flick The Beaver, which stars Foster and Mel Gibson, in his first role since… losing his mind. The movie’s description sounds pretty engaging, “…story about a man on a journey to re-discover his family and re-start his life. Plagued by his own demons, Walter Black was once a successful toy executive and family man who now suffers from depression. No matter what he tries, Walter can’t seem to get himself back on track…until a beaver hand puppet enters his life.” Check out the trailer over here. Sadly for Foster, the movie keeps getting pushed back. It was originally going to come out in mid March, before getting pushed to April, and now May.
- Has Die Hard 5 found its director? Deadline is reporting that big time commercial director Noam Murro, who also helmed the 2008 flick Smart People with Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Ellen Page, will be directing a script from Skip Woods. I’m not familiar with Murro’s commercial work (apparently his Halo stuff is pretty amazing), but having Woods write the script doesn’t give me much confidence in the sequel. Woods is credited with the terrible screenplays for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team, and Hitman. I do want to see John McClane return. And what do we have to do to get Reginald VelJohnson back in the mix?
- Ridley Scott’s upcoming sci-fi epic Prometheus has added Charlize Theron to a cast that already includes Noomi Rapace and the new Megneto Michael Fassbender. So, this movie was supposed to be the Alien prequel… is it still tied to Alien, or is it now something else?
- This Monday on Jeopardy past champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter face off against the super IBM computer known as Watson. Will they be able to stop the destruction of the future as seen by way to smart robots in the Terminator? I’m putting my money on the computer.
- Visitor Poll: What kind of television deal do you have? Do you have an Optimized Cable Company or use satellite? Sound off in the comments. Depending on how you are connected, you’ll have to know where to get accessories like a VGA cable or USB cables. Thanks!
