From Indie Rights Movies, Earthrise is a sci-fi thriller from director/writer Glenn Payne. The movie focuses on a small crew from a colonized Mars that is on the journey to Earth to help rehabilitate the dying planet. On their way to Earth, something goes wrong. New Comic Wednesday is bringing an awesome mix of new comics. Here are six spotlight previews from various publishers. I had no idea there was a He-Man/Thundercats series and now I’ll have to try an track down the first three issues!

Beauty and the Beast

I love this poster that spotlight’s Belle and Beast’s iconic dance. I can’t wait for this to come out on March 17! The live action adaptation of the Disney classic stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast, with Luke Evans, Ewan McGregor, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Emma Thompson, Ian McKellen, Stanley Tucci, Josh Gad, and Kevin Kline. The film was directed by Bill Condon.

Our friends at COMET TV have an eclectic mix of cult films this Friday, January 13th, to watch for free on their website/network.

Tank Girl Poster Code 46 Poster

They are starting with the 1995 comic book adaptation Tank Girl at noon est. The post-apocalyptic sci fi comedy stars, Lori Petty, Ice-T, Naomi Watts, and Malcolm McDowell. As the title suggests, the movie is about a girl and her tank, which she uses to fight against an evil corporation.

Next up, at 4pm est is the 2003 Tim Robbins sci fi romantic flick Code 46. It costars Samantha Morton and Jeanne Balibar. In the movie, Robbins portrays a fraud investigator who falls for the leader of the forgery ring in a dystopian Shanghai.

Future World Poster Jaws Of Satan Poster 

At 8pm et is Futureworld, the sequel of Westworld, which stars Peter Fonda and Blythe Danner. Taking place 2 years after Westworld, the movie follows to investigative reporters as they look into a mystery at the futuristic theme-park.

Lastly, at midnight is the 1981 cult horror flick Jaws of Satan. Set in a small Alabama town, Satan grants a king cobra demonic powers and it faces off with the Town’s priest. That sounds like my kinda Saturday night.
