Mystique is one of the X-Men’s best villains (and anti-heroes!) and it is about time that they are getting a new solo series! The series is a 5 issue limited that spawns from the upcoming X-Men relaunch ‘From the Ashes’.
Declan Shalvey (Moon Knight) will handle writing and drawing duties in the new series that will pit the mutant up against Nick Fury in “a deadly game of cat and mouse as the elusive shapeshifter infiltrates her way across the Marvel Universe.” Marvel Entertainment further describes that “the mutant nation has fallen, [and] Mystique’s vicious methods are required once more to protect mutants everywhere… Mystique’s new saga harkens back to her beloved early ‘00s spy series as she takes on a new and pivotal role in the current mutant landscape.”
I’m really happy to hear that the series will go the espionage route and even more intrigued by the inclusion of Nick Fury. Let’s see where this goes! Mystique hits comics stores in October. You can learn more about it in Marvel Entertainment’s press release.
