San Diego Comic-Con is back and with it a ton of geek news! Lets talk about a few of the new reveals!
ROBERT DOWNEY JR
RETURNS TO THE MCU!
No, Iron Man is not coming back from the dead, but Robert Downey Jr IS RETURNING TO THE MCU! The actor that launched the franchise and was its main hero for more than a decade will now be Marvel’s biggest villain, Doctor Doom, in the next two Avengers movies! I’m honestly not sure how I feel about this, but I love RDJ and trust him to lead the next two movies. Also returning for the next two Avengers movies are the directors of Infinity War and Endgame, the Russo Brothers!
THE BOYS GETS A
PREQUEL SPINOFF
The Boys may be coming to an end after next season, but first the hit Amazon comic adaptation will be getting a prequel spinoff series! The new series will star Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy and Aya Cash’s Stormfront in the 1950s and will revolve around a murder mystery. This series joins The Boys spinoffs including Gen V, which focuses on young adult sups at the Godolkin University School of Crimefighting, and The Boys Presents: Diabolical, an animated anthology series set within the world of The Boys.
SECTION 31 IS FINALLY HERE!
The long in development Star Trek: Section 31 is finally here and has a trailer! The Michelle Yeoh led spinoff focuses on a top secret spy unit of the Federation. It will now be a movie (instead of a series or limited series) and it will premiere on Paramount+. I’m so excited for this spinoff. Yeoh played two different versions of her character, Philippa Georgiou, in Star Trek: Discovery. The first was Captain of the Discovery and the other was an Empress from the Mirror Universe. She will be joined by Omari Hardwick, Sam Richardson, and Kacey Rohl in the movie.
