So a few weeks ago at the British Grand Prix Brad Pitt unveiled the first teaser trailer for his upcoming film F1. As the name might suggest, it takes place in the world of Formula 1. Called the pinnacle of motorsport, Formula 1 has seen a huge popularity shift in the past few years all over the world. Due in no small part to Netflix’s documentary series Drive To Survive. Take a look at the trailer…
Description: Sonny Hayes, a Formula One driver who raced in the 1990s, has a horrible crash, forcing him to retire from Formula 1 and start racing in other disciplines. A Formula 1 team owner and friend contacts Hayes and asks him to come out of retirement to mentor rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris) for the Expensify Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
As a huge fan of F1, I am really looking forward to this one. Directed by Joseph Kosinski who is fresh off the success of Top Gun: Maverick. Judging by the trailer and the amount of on board footage from the cars, he is using the same techniques that gave us the incredible feeling of being right there in the cockpit. It’s first time a film about F1 in the modern day has been done and the first non-documentary film about F1 since Ron Howards Rush back in 2013. So far, the trailer hasn’t given too much about the story yet but the teaser certainly gives the thrill and rush of being in a Formula 1 car as well as the immense speed they are going. It is clear Kosinski and Pitt set out to make the realism key to the film.
It’s been a long time coming for a true F1 film and so far things are definitely heading in the right direction. The movie will be in theaters Summer 2025.
