Runner Runner

There is no doubt that everyone has a hidden passion. For some it may be rare coins, for the others – often visits to a local liquor store. There is poignant passion, enthralling passion, bizarre passion, dubious passion, and there is disparaging passion. Disparaging passions include addictions, manias and obsessions. But where is the line between a disparaging passion and mental illness?

Perchance everybody is keen for movies. Everyone loves different movies, there is a lot of people and there is, respectively, a lot of movies, so that there is no lack of choice. And it is reasonable to assume that movies embody the hidden passion of men, somehow exposing itself in the exciting plot, in the subtle details, or in the heated atmosphere. The Runner-Runner trailer is an undeniable passion. It is a touching, exciting, unusual, doubtful and destructive passion. It is a passion to passion, passion for excitement, a passion for speed, a passion for adventure, a passion for life.

A first impression about the Runner Runner trailer makes: touching and poignant. It is a mundane story of a gifted boy, who is terribly unfortunate and unappreciated. A boy of marvelous intentions and incomparable brilliance, whose name was Richie (Justin Timberlake), had a noble goal: he wanted to graduate from the most prestigious math school and become a man, who will become worth of his talents. But he has no money for education and he is desperate to find a respectful job. No wonder that a desperate lad found his way to the one of the most dishonorable fields of profit. He started online gambling and soon he realized, that he could be smarter than the system. Getting drawn deeper and deeper, Richie loses control and after his first big loss he is already too obsessed and too determined. Here are the obsessions in the Runner-Runner trailer, but the passions only begin.

In a desperate bid to achieve much more power than he deserves, Richie travels to Costa Rica, where he hopes to battle one of the giants of this dubious industry for his prestigious position. Nevertheless, the aforementioned businessman (Ben Affleck), sees the Richie’s gifts and talents and offers him a job of his dreams. This is where the Runner-Runner starts to gain some serious speed, and soon enough you are going to find yourself dizzy. Richie’s life is paradise, everything he dreams of basically instantly comes true. But the obsessions and passions inevitable lead man to failure. So the fiasco approaches, and that is the exact moment when the Runner-Runner trailer becomes so flashing, dazzling and glistering, that even Richie himself cannot stop running. Our job is now to try not to fall behind from Richie and wait anxiously for the Runner-Runner release. Because very soon our hidden passions will cease to be a secret.

Philomena-Still

There is a quite understandable reason why the movies with a mark “based on a true story” occupy some special place in the cinematograph. It is irrelevant how astoundingly talented, witty and intelligent is the director, no matter what is the scale of literary talent of a screenwriter and no matter whether the actors are able to conquer the viewers around the world with their sincerity and charisma. Movies, base on actual events, posses a kind of special charm, incomparable to any of all the fictional stories. Perchance, the enthralling attraction of many of these films is explained by the fact that they are similar to our life situations. Others are probably shocking and striking with the realization that this story actually happened with someone in real life.

Every feeling, every word, every thought and every gaze – it seems as if it is happening right around us, and we are taking a direct part in the lives of the main characters. After the great success of The Queen, Stephen Frears, a born genius of cinematic drama and a winner of two awards at Berlin festival presents to the world another masterpiece featuring Judi Dench. A touching, tender, poignant Philomena trailer – is a story that actually happened once with some ordinary people and can easily happen again with any of us. The details of the drama has not yet been disclosed the wide audience. However, some key moments of the story line could be seen in the Philomena trailer.

So here is a story of a failed journalist, who worked as a representative of the BBC in Moscow many years ago, relives a breakdown after a breakdown and gradually becomes a laughing stock among all of his friends and colleagues. He fell into despair, he suffers from severe depression and it seems as if there is no way back on the top. Until one day, completely at random, someone gives him an idea of ??writing a story about a living person, the story of human interest. Previously, he was opposed to expose details of the personal lives of others to the public, but now, out of desperation, he agrees. What happens next was a complete abruptness for everyone and for him firstly. He gets acquainted with Philomena, whose history touches him so profoundly, he not only writes it down to the tiniest detail, but follows her on the search of her son, who she have not seen in fifty years, since the day he was born.

Judi Dench and Steve Coogan have unsurprisingly created a beautiful harmonic duo in the movie. Obviously, this subtlety has been fully appreciated be the greatest connoisseurs of cinematographic art – after the premiere of the Philomena at the Venice festival this year, the audience stood up and applauded to the masterpiece and its creators on their feet. If even the professional met the movie this way, we can only wait for November 1 with bated breath and crave for something what will restore our faith in humanity.

Probably, every man on this planet has his one image of a brilliant film. In the memory of his recently deceased brother, Tony Scott, Ridley Scott seems to have fulfilled everyone’s expectations. Here comes the new masterpiece by Ridley Scott, Counselor, due out on the 25th of October, will most likely respond even the most demanding images of the work of cinematic art. The author of No Country for Old Men, Cormac McCarthy wrote the screenplay for the Counselor and this fact by itself alone suggests that the film will surely be worth special attention. The Counselor Trailer reveals only the key moments of the story line and does it pretty niggardly, so we can only guess, but the basis is extremely promising.

It all start with a usual story of a gifted lawyer, who, being familiar with the law shortcuts, exceeds his authority in the chase for something extra and gets caught up in some criminal schemes, related to the traffic of a fantastic amount of drugs. Of course, there are some menacing and dangerous villains, the power and blood lust of which has no description, and terrible secrets, the disclosure of which threatens with some dire consequences. Unsurprisingly, the Counselor trailer has a story of a tender and bland, yet very unhappy love, the illusion of a happy life, which is not destined to ever come true, an odd and unfaithful friendship and, of course, dashed hopes and dreams. The Counselor trailer would not have anything so tremendously amazing in it, if not for Ridley Scott and his impeccable status of a great director, for Cormac McCarthy and his reputation as a talented writer, and, evidently, for the actors who has been chosen for the leading roles. The hapless counselor, who has been mercilessly betrayed by his fate, is performed by the matchlessly handsome in his dispassionate manner Michael Fassbender, his naïve sweetheart is tremendous Penelope Cruz. Other characters are not yet completely identified because of the mysterious trailer of the Counselor, but the reputation of the actors speaks for itself. On the secondary roles wicked Ridley Scott has chosen none other than Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem and Cameron Diaz.

The Counselor Ridley Scott could become a legend among American cinematic thrillers. The cast is flawless, the script is from a talented writer, the reputation of the director is admirable – so the recipe of a genuine cinema masterpiece observed strictly.

With Orange is the New Black, Weeds creator Jenji Kohan has a stunning, hilarious new hit that offers life lessons straight from a minimum-security prison. The series is only available on Netflix, available with Hughesnet.com satellite Internet or other high-speed connection. Orange — or OITNB as fans call it — follows the prison life of Piper Chapman, a Seven-Sisters educated white girl who carried drug money and got caught before the statute of limitations ran out. Prison puts Piper in contact with her ex Alex, who got her into the drug trade, and a range of characters, from a transgendered hairdresser to a born-again faith healer. Among the top truths of OITNB are these nine life lessons.

1. Make peace with your past.
When Piper learns Alex is in the same prison, she is enraged. However, Piper must learn to make peace with her past, forgive Alex and accept her crime and subsequent punishment. No matter what your past, you must come to peace with it before you can move forward.

2. Think before you speak.
When Piper voices her views on prison food, she offends the head chef, gets herself dissed in the food line by the chef’s friends and must go to great lengths to make it up to the chef. Piper learns fast to think before she speaks to avoid making enemies.

3. Lean on your friends to get through hard times.
Friends are a must for prison life, just as in real life. All the women of “Orange” lean on friends to get through hard times portrayed on the show.

4. Be resourceful.
Afraid of getting disease from prison showers, Piper rigs her own flip flops. Sophia teaches her to make duct tape shower shoes until her commissary money comes in. Throughout the show, the prisoners show resourcefulness that will translate directly to out-of-prison success.

5. Practice tolerance.
Born again Tiffany Doggett’s anti-gay stance pits Piper and her ex Alex against the prison’s Christian coalition. Pranks escalate as Tiffany locks Alex in a washing machine, and Alex and Piper conspire to send Tiffany to the prison’s psych ward. Instead of seeking revenge on your enemies, Orange suggests that you practice tolerance.

6. Be who you are.
By showcasing transgender, bisexual and lesbian characters — not whitewashing or feminizing these female characters a la Pretty Little Liars and referencing the Kinsey scale — the series tells its viewers that they can and should be who they are. Sophia’s past shows that she was willing to commit a crime to become female but must learn to let others be who they want to be.

7. Hope will get you through.
Even in prison, there are little things to look forward to. Taystee knows all of them. Remember to have gratitude and hope when you can, even if all you can look forward to is taco night.

8. Every action has consequences.
In “Orange,” every action, even one as minor as two prisoners dancing together, has big repercussions. Think before you act.

9. Life presents unexpected learning opportunities.
Piper’s prison assignment in an electrical shop seems like a mistake, until she turns it around and accepts the challenge of learning a new skill. Through life, you will always learn new skills.

The first season of Orange is the New Black is currently airing on Netflix, with the second season currently filming with an anticipated release next year.

thewaywayback

There are some movies which are famous and wide-spread only through the weekend of the premiere. They are pointless, useless and stupid. Most often, these movies are comedies. But there are some comedies which are not entirely comedies. There are stories about love and disgrace, hatred and forgiveness, and all these in disguise if a sift and light summer comedy. The Way Way Back is a story of reincarnation, even in such a short time and under such comical circumstances, always touch to depth of soul. It is unlikely that a summer at an Aqua park and several new acquaintances can abruptly change human’s life. However, this is precisely what happens in the The Way Way Back. And it is portrayed so normal and fine-looking, that not to believe it is simply impossible. The studio which brought us once such heartwarming stories as Juno and Little Miss Sunshine is about to restore our faith in humanity one more time. This summer comes yet another one life-affirming, gentle, a little clumsy, but nevertheless charming comedy Way Way Back. It might seem that nothing could be said more about the beauty of the human soul in the guise of an extremely awkward shell and the importance of genuine values than it already has been said, but there are many possible points of view. This time, the point of view belongs to a socially-awkward teenager boy (Liam James), who is constantly bullied by his mom’s douche boyfriend (Steve Carell) and has no basics of social knowledge whatsoever.

A pleasant boy, who had all the changes to grow up and to be a successful man, loses faith. He has nothing to live for, nothing to love, only suffer and disgrace. Nobody cares about him, even his mother has more interest in her new douche boyfriend, who, by the way, always seizes an opportunity to humiliate Duncan. Duncan is self-conscious, he has no self-respect whatsoever. In other words, Duncan is a classical loser. But something changes, when his mother’s boyfriend takes the whole family on a vacation to his beach house. Duncan changes, his life changes and it will never come back to be the same.

By the will of the fate Duncan meets an actual spiritual guide (Sam Rockwell), who explains to him how important is to believe in yourself and how unimportant is the opinions of others. Over time, Duncan becomes stronger and stronger, so he finds a lovely girl who, of course, is at first confused, but then falls for changing Duncan more and more. Throughout the movie, we trace the emergence of Duncan as a man and as a person. All this comes easily, effortlessly, in the relaxed atmosphere of a summer frivolity. It takes only one dig deeper, and immediately comes the realization that The Way Way Back is not a mindless comedy, It is a story of a boy, who became a man. It is a story of love so pure and unconditional, that there are no conventionalities to hold it back.

Did you enjoy the latest episode of Kill Phil on Cinefix’s Youtube Page? At 20 minutes, the show is longer than most webshows, but still short enough to watch during your lunch, on a break or before bed. The show is very well produced, looks and sounds fantastic, with some very stylist graphics mixed in. The episode takes the audience to the Creative Concepts workshop. It is here that we join movie prop master Rick Hilgner for three days as he builds the awesome shotgun-like blaster from the Joseph Gordon Levitt and Bruce Willis time travel action thriller Looper.

Hilgner is known for making some very cool props that you are very familiar with, having worked on such movies as The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, Broken Arrow, and Vertical Limit. And he does not let down here. My favorite thing about the episode is that it really takes you behind the scenes of building the prop. We follow Hilgner for three days, extensively going step by step through the process of building the prop gun. It is amazing to see the level of detail that is put into this. You don’t always realize when you watch a movie that all of these original creations where made by hand, taking days, even weeks and months to build.

Other episodes of Kill Phil focus on building such props as the Arc Generator from District 9 and the Gravity Gun from Half Life. Check ’em and out and leave a comment with your favorite movie weapon- what would you like them to build in a future episode?

I love the endless possibilities of webTV. We've seen webshows across the board, ones that mimic narrative television shows (sitcoms, dramas, sci-fi, etc), reality programming, talk shows, how to advice shows, and so much more. From the above graphic you might have guessed that today we'll be talking about a new show, Dr. Jim and Bob's Fun & Helpful Health Advice, presented by Blue Shield of California. We can't be surprised that a California health company is putting out a fun health Q&A style webshow.

Dr. Jim and Bob are literally talking (and floating) heads that have a witty banter between each other while providing the audience with informative information about whatever their aliment is. They have different videos from everything from constipation and diarrhea, to cold sores, snoring and insomnia. Not only do they make videos to help people answer questions about their health, but Dr. Jim and Bob actively search the internet to find people with questions and then make videos to answer those questions.

Since My Hollywood Dream is (you guessed it) Hollywood based, we deal with getting Sunburn more often than I'd like to admit. What advice do Dr. Jim and Bob have for us?

As you can see, the videos are short and enjoyable. The company behind the webseries is Blue Shield of California, a not for profit company that offers access to health care plans that are affordable and include a vast array of doctors and even alternative care (in Hollywood even needs a chiropractor and a great acupuncture person). Check out Ask Dr. Jim and Bob and then follow them to their Facebook page where you can like them and stay up to date on their new videos.
