“From executive producer J.J. Abrams (FRINGE, “Lost,” “Star Trek,” and the recent blockbuster “Super 8”) comes ALCATRAZ, a thrilling new series that follows a unique trio investigating the mystifying reappearance of 302 of Alcatraz’s most notorious prisoners and guards, 50 years after they vanished.”

“Iraq war veteran WALTER SHERMAN (Geoff Stults) gained a reputation in his army days as being the go-to guy for tracking down insurgents and deserters and finding improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Unfortunately one IED found Walter before he could find it, resulting in severe brain damage with a lasting and unexpected effect. “Based on the blockbuster feature film and best-selling novel by world-renowned author John Grisham (“The Pelican Brief,” “The Client”), “The Firm” continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere and his family 10 years after the events of the film and novel. As a young associate, McDeere brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob — and his life was never the same. “Charming, fast talking Marty Kaan and his crack team of MBA-toting management consultants are playing America’s 1 percent for everything they’ve got. They put the con in consulting as they charm smug, unsuspecting corporate fat cats into closing huge deals, and spending a fortune for their services. Twisting the facts, spinning the numbers, and spouting just enough business school jargon to dazzle the clients, there’s no end to what this crew won’t do to and for each other, while laughing all the way to the bank. Starring Academy Award® Nominee Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell, nothing is sacred in HOUSE OF LIES, a hilarious, irreverent send-up of corporate America today.” Watch Now at 141tv

Here at My Hollywood Dream we like to cover as much of Hollywood and the world of entertainment that we can (minus the ugly gossip). With that I welcome you to another edition of The Pit – Fall into it.

  • Queen-Geek and Dr. Horrible love interest Felicia Day is expanding her work online with a new web series that adapts the popular RPG series Dragon Age. It’ll be very cool to see Day, who stars and produces the video game related series The Guild, step into full on fantasy mode with Dragon Age: Redemption. The series takes place in an unspecified time in the ten year time span of the new entry into the fantasy game series, Dragon Age 2. The actual episodes fall in the six to nine minute range, which is very common for web shows, who viewers usually have a rather short attention span.
  • Sarah Jessica Parker wants to make a third Sex and the City movie. Thankfully no one else wants to.
  • Michael Emerson, Lost‘s creepy Ben, has been cast in a new pilot for JJ Abrams. Person of Interest sees him as a mysterious (wouldn’t have it any other way with Emerson) billionaire who teams up with an ex-CIA agent who is thought to be dead to stop violent crimes in New York City. No word on who will be the ex-CIA agent. If picked up, the show would be heading to CBS.
  • There is a Facebook event page promoting February 21st as “Send a Naked picture of yourself to Steve Buscemi Day” showing us that there is a Facebook page for just about anything. I’m so disturbed by the group that no, I will not post a link here. You’ll have to actually search for that yourself.
  • In another bit of TV casting new, Dawson’s Creek star James Van Der Beek will be portraying… James Van Der Beek in the ABC pilot Don’t Trust the Bitch in Apt. 23. In the series he’d be an over the top version of himself, much in the vein of Neil Patrick Harris’ hysterical performance in the original Harold & Kumar (the sequel is best left forgotten).

Excited about Day’s new series? More interested in another Sex in the City sequel? How long do you think the Beek’s new series will last?

Entertainment News from The Pit, Movies, TV, Games, Awesome

Welcome to an all new Pit!

  • J.J. Abrams’ Undercovers are going to have to stay undercover as NBC has put the breaks on the spy drama. The True Lies like series featured a married couple who were retired spies and brought back into the game. This is the second new show that NBC canceled this year, the first being the Jimmy Smits court drama, Outlaws.
  • Conan O’Brien’s new late night show starts this Monday on TBS! His first week of guests include Seth Rogan, Lea Michele, Tom Hanks, Jon Hamm, Michael Cera, Julie Bowen and others, along with musical guests Jack White, Soundgarden, Fistful of Mercy, and Jon Dore.  TBS has revealed that Conan episodes will be posted online the day after they air. Here is hoping that the show takes a big bite out of The Tonight Show.
  • Martin Sheen has been cast as Uncle Ben and Sally Field is in talks to portray Aunt May in Marc Webb’s Spiderman reboot. While on the surface it feels like very weird casting, they might actually be pretty good fits.  Sheen especially, he has the right feel for Uncle Ben. He isn’t as frail as Cliff Robertson, but with how Uncle Ben dies that isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The film is really coming together, taking on the role of Peter Parker is Andrew Garfield, who rocked in Social Network, with Emma Stone as Peter’s first love interest Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans rumored to be Curt Connors, aka the Lizard. I really hope that MJ is in the movie, setting her up for future films.
  • The Hollywood Reporter has some really cool concept art from a couple of “lost scenes” from The Goonies. Check out the art here.

Fringe on Fox with Joshua Jackson

Sadly, I have not been able to follow Fringe as closely as I would have liked since its premiere. I loved the two hour pilot that I saw at last year’s San Diego Comic Con and I was psyched about the series, but they collected dust on my Tivo. At the end of the season I’m going to hold a marathon and watch them all over a long weekend.

But for those who have been following the show week to week have another intriguing episode tonight as the gang’s investigation of a case of spontaneous combustion relates to not only Olivia’s visions, but Walter’s ZFT manifesto and a pivotal revelation from Peter.  Things are coming together as the season races towards its conclusion. The all new episode airs at 9pm after American Idol on FOX.

Fringe Still Image

Fringe is the best show that is sitting and collecting dust in my Tivo. Once my schedule opens up a little more I’m going to sit down to a weekend Fringe marathon.  For those of you who have been watching it weekly, tonight’s all new episode gets the golden spot after American Idol at 9pm on FOX.

Official episode description: “A visit from Olivia’s sister (Ari Graynor) and a formal review of the Fringe Division coincide with the investigation of the murder of a famous scientist, which may have something to do with Olivia’s recent abduction.”

What else is new tonight?

8PM

  • FOX: American Idol (Reality)
  • NBC: Biggest Loser: Couples (Reality)

Zackary Quinto as Spock

Six exclusive still images from J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek sequel/reboot have been released around the web. Included in the mix is a striking shot of Zackary Quinto as Spock (seen above).  The project has so far been very tight lipped, but the countdown to its May release has officially begun.  Click here to see the full version of the above picture and to get links to the other five pictures (which include Chris Pine as James T. Kirk, Eric Bana as Nero).  The sci-fi epic hits theaters on May 8th, 2009.

Fringe, only on FoxTonight on Fox, from the mind of J.J. Abrams (“Alias”/”Lost”), Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (the writers team behind “Transformers”) comes a new series starring Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, John Noble, and Lance Reddick, that is a cross between “X-Files” and “Alias”.

The official show description: When an international flight lands at Boston’s Logan Airport with no signs of life, FBI Special Agent Olivia Dunham (Torv) is called in to investigate as part of an inter-agency task force. After her partner, Special Agent John Scott (Mark Valley), is nearly killed during the investigation, a desperate Olivia searches frantically for someone to help, leading her to Dr. Walter Bishop (Noble), our generation’s Einstein. There’s only one catch: he’s been institutionalized for the last 17 years, and the only way to question him requires pulling his estranged son Peter (Jackson) in to help.

When Olivia’s investigation leads to multi-billion dollar corporation Massive Dynamic and its manipulative corporate executive, Nina Sharp (Blair Brown), our unlikely trio, along with Department of Homeland Security Agent Phillip Broyles (Reddick) and FBI Agents Charlie Francis (Kirk Acevedo) and Astrid Farnsworth (Jasika Nicole), will discover that what happened on Flight 627 is only a small piece of a larger, more shocking truth.
