Are you interesting in appearing on the CW’s final season of Smallville? Big thanks to PJ at 141tv for pointing me to this contest, it looks like a very cool way for the show to thank fans and include them in the show’s final season. Here is the official description:

“SMALLVILLE” LAUNCHES THE “BELIEVE IN HEROES” CHALLENGE, OFFERING FANS AN OPPORTUNITY TO APPEAR IN THE ‘BEACON’ EPISODE ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4

Do you believe in heroes? If so, The CW’s hit series SMALLVILLE (Fridays, 8:00–9:00 p.m. ET/PT) wants to hear from you. Fans of SMALLVILLE, from Warner Bros. Television, will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to appear in an upcoming episode of the 10th and final season via the “Smallville: Believe in Heroes Challenge”, a 10-day promotion running from Friday, December 10—Monday, December 20, on CWTV.com.

In the episode “Beacon,” to be broadcast on Friday, February 4, Clark (series star Tom Welling) is at an emotional crossroads, with Metropolis divided by a clash between supporters of the government’s Vigilante Registration Act and opposing rallies to generate support for indispensable heroes like The Blur.

Clark’s friends assure him that he is, indeed, making a difference in his crime-fighting role as The Blur, and to prove their point, they show him videos from the Internet in which ordinary citizens express what The Blur means to them, what it means to be a hero – and what it means to have heroes and believe in them. One of these videos could be yours!

And this is where SMALLVILLE fans come in!

Here’s how it works:
Beginning Friday, December 10, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time, and continuing through Monday, December 20, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time,
SMALLVILLE fans can submit their own video testimonial as one of these hopeful citizens by uploading videos to The CW’s official website. In these videos, viewers – speaking in character as impassioned citizens of Metropolis and around the world, fighting for the rights of their heroes – can express what The Blur means to them and talk about why they believe in these super heroes. SMALLVILLE producers and the CWTV.com team will review the submissions and select a number of the user-submitted videos for broadcast as the testimonials that Clark watches during the “Beacon” episode airing Friday, February 4 (8:00–9:00 p.m. ET/PT) on The CW. In addition to selecting the winning videos to be used in the episode, the SMALLVILLE producers and CWTV.com team will also select a number of additional favorite videos that will be posted to CWTV.com following the broadcast. For information on how to submit videos and for rules of the promotion, please click here.

Smallville, Lois and ClarkWe posted a preview of the all new episode earlier in the week, but I wanted to post a TV Tonight also to remind everyone that tonight Teri Hatcher makes an brief appearance on the final season of Smallville. The once Lois Lane will now be stepping into the role of Ella Lane, Lois’ mother who passed away many years ago from cancer, in a series of videos that Lois finds when she moves in with Clark.

In addition to Hatcher’s appearance, we have a lot of reasons to look forward to the new episode of Smallville; Jor-El and Lara (Julian Sands and Helen Slater) will be making appearances as will the Fortress (will we see the costume again?) along with  DC comics villains Granny Goodness and Harriet.  The show has gotten really good at expanding the DC Comics Universe and I can’t wait until they introduce Booster Gold and Blue Beetle later in the season (and of course the return of Aquaman next week).

What else is on tonight?

8PM

  • ABC: Supernanny (Reality)
  • CBS: Medium (Supernatural Drama)
  • SYFY: WWE Smackdown (Wrestling)

9PM

  • ABC: Primetime: What Would You Do? (News/Hidden Camera)
  • CBS: CSI: NY (Crime Drama)
  • CW: Supernatural (Supernatural Drama)
  • FOX: The Good Guys (Crime Drama)
  • NBC: Dateline NBC (News Showcase)

10PM

  • ABC: 20/20 (News Showcase)
  • CBS: Blue Bloods (Crime Drama)
  • E!: The Soup (Funniest Show on TV)

This Friday, my personal favorite Lois Lane, Teri Hatcher, guests stars on the newest episode of Smallville. Hatcher will be portraying Lois’ mother, who passed away while Lois was just a child. Also guest starring in the episode is Julian Sands and the big screen Supergirl Helen Slater as Jor-El and Lara, Clark’s parents from Krypton. This is the first time we will see Jor-El and Lara together and the first time we will see the Jor-El from the Fortress and not just hear his voice. What change causes this to happen? You’ll have to watch the new episode on the CW this Friday to find out. Below is the episode’s preview.

Article by PJ Flip with contributions from The Pit.

The CW Network has updated their Smallville photo gallery with pictures of Laura Vandervoort as Supergirl and James Marsters as Brainiac. Also intriguing is a picture with witht he caption “Lex Luthor “. Another clone? Or could it be the real Luthor?  Start here for the picture’s with Marsters, and over here for the pics of Vandervoort’s return.

David E. Kelly (Boston Legal, The Practice, Ally McBeal) is bringing DC Comic’s hero Wonder Woman back to TV. The superhero was famously portrayed by Lynda Carter in the 70’s series The New Adventures of Wonder Woman.  It would have been cool to have this on the air at the same time as Smallville with possible crossovers, but who knows what kind of world Kelly is planing to craft. Ultra-realistic? Will it have more of a legal feel like his other shows? Over in the comics, Wonder Woman’s costume and history was recently redesigned/updated to look more modern and realistic.

Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies) is remaking The Munsters. This is cool on many levels.

Summer Glau to guest star as Greta on Chuck, and tonight, Stacy Keibler will guest star as Greta on.  This gag with the different agents taking over the Greta role in the buy more is fun, but I couldn’t help but think that they could have used Glau in a bigger role. Keibler is guest starring and will throw fists with another ex-professional wrestler, Stone Cold Steve Austin, who makes a return appearance.

FOX’s Lone Star is the first show to get canceled, after only two episodes, while ABC’s My Generation is the second show to get canceled, also after only two episodes. What will be next? Likely Undercovers, which is at the bottom of the NBC ratings pool.

Snooki is starring in her own dating show and writing a book? It’s not April Fools Day yet, is it?

Eliza Dushku will guest star on The Big Bang Theory. She will play an FBI agent named Angela.

Okay, so we still don’t have news about a new live action Superman film, but thankfully we still has a ton of Superman adaptations, some of which have been awesome lately!  I really enjoyed the last Superman animated film I saw, Batman/Superman: Public Enemies, and I can’t wait to see Batman/Superman: Apocalypse, which features Supergirl and Darkseid. Well, they just announced the latest Superman flick…

all star superman cartoon

The new flick is based on the very Silver Age inspired All Star Superman limited series, which was written by Grant Morrison with art by Frank Quitely. In the series, Superman gets accidentally supercharged after a rescue mission takes him too close to the sun. His overpowered cells begin to poison him and he knows that he is dying. The story showcases what he chooses to do when he knows that he doesn’t have much time left. James Denton from Desperate Housewives lends his voice to Superman, while the lovely Christina Hendricks from Mad Men voices Lois Lane. Other cast members include Anthony LaPaglia, Ed Asner, Frances Conroy, Linda Cardellini, Arnold Vosloo, and Matthew Gray Gubler. If done right, this could be a very special Superman flick.

Smallville's Final Season

How badass is this still from the season premiere of Smallville‘s final season? Lois Lane is stuck in a position Clark Kent knew all to well in the series’ pilot.  Does this mean we’ll get the return of the villainous Jeremy Creek, the show’s first “meteor freak”.  The preview for the new season is a lot of fun and I can’t wait to see Clark finally become Superman. I absolutely hate the name the red and blue blur and the black suit that Clark is currently wearing. I hope that they have him become Superman mid-season and we actually see him as Superman for a bit of the final season, but I seriously doubt that will happen. We shall have to wait and see. The season premiere is next week, Friday September 24th.

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

Smallville

The final season of Smallville is almost upon us! Here is some of the latest news about the end of the long running “young Superman” drama:

  • John Schneider will return as Jonathan Kent in the premiere and will guest star in a number of episodes throughout the season.
  • James Marsters will return as Braniac in the 200th episode. Rumors are saying that he might not be the evil Braniac that we know and love, but a different version of the character.
  • Laura Vandervoort will return as Kara/Supergirl for at least one episode, maybe more? I hope so.
  • The Superman suit appeared in the Comic Con trailer. It was the actual suit worn by Brandon Routh in Superman Returns.  I hope if this is the suit Clark wears, they they replace the maroon with red. The Returns suit was a bit of a disappointment.
  • Cat Grant will become a recurring character with Keri Lynn Pratt replacing Emilie Ullerup. She will become Clark’s new partner at the Daily Planet. Where does that leave Lois?
  • Michael Shanks will return as Hawkman. He appeared in the Smallville: Absolute Justice TV Movie that featured the JSA.
  • Sahar Biniaz has been cast as Hawkgirl, and I think we can all assume that she’ll be in the same episode of Hawkman.
  • Bradley Stryker has been cast as Deadshot, a member of the Suicide Squad.
  • Blue Beetle and Booster Gold will appear in an episode. Both are long running DC Comic characters.
  • Justin Hartley, aka Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, will direct an episode.

Are you excited for Smallville‘s final season? What news do you want to hear?

Smallville, Lois and Clark

We all expected it, but now the CW has confirmed it! Smallville‘s 10th season will be its last!  Here is an official press release by the network:

Entering its explosive tenth season, Smallville culminates in the epic rise of the world’s ultimate hero — Superman. Finally working alongside the intrepid Lois Lane at the Daily Planet, Clark Kent had accepted his destiny as the guardian of Metropolis when General Zod arrived, challenging Clark’s authority and power.

Just when the romance between Clark and Lois began to bloom, Clark was called into duty by the legendary Justice Society and his own burgeoning league of heroes to fight the gathering dark forces. As season nine drew to a close, Clark sacrificed himself to save the world from Zod. Season ten promises the classic reuniting of the timeless romance between Clark and Lois, and brings Clark face to face with his destiny as he overcomes his final trials and forges the iconic identity that will be known for all time.

The series stars Tom Welling as Clark Kent, Erica Durance as Lois Lane, Justin Hartley as Oliver Queen and Cassidy Freeman as Tess Mercer

Noticeably absent from the cast list is Allison Mack who has portrayed Chloe Sullivan since the beginning of the show (the last remaining original cast member besides Welling). Rumor has it that she will continue in a limited role through guest appearances.  Hopefully the series will be able to convince Michael Rosenbaum to reprise Lex Luthor before the end of its run. What better way to end the series than having all of the pieces in place for the Superman mythology?
