dollhouse-106-04

I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am disappointed; Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse has been canceled. The series has been struggling in the ratings from day one, but content wise has been getting better week after week.  Season two’s episodes are some of the best television I’ve seen in years and I would love to see where Joss and the gang would take this show in the long run.

In the very least, FOX is going to air all of the remaining episodes, and have given Joss proper notice to give a fitting conclusion to the series. If only we could reprogram FOX executives and make them keep good shows on the air.

A clip from “Epitaph One,” the never before seen episode of Dollhouse‘s first season that features Felicia Day has been released online. The clip features Amy Acker’s Whiskey and what looks like a team of special ops trying to take down the Dollhouse.

I can’t wait for the second season of Dollhouse, I just really hope that Amy Acker is able to appear regardless starring in the new mystery drama, Happy Town. “Epitaph One” is included on Dollhouse‘s Season One DVD/Blu-Ray.

Today was a big day for shows on the bubble as Scrubs was granted a ninth season by ABC and Joss Whedon’s told to be dead series Dollhouse was granted a second season by FOX. Both shows will be cutting costs in order to survive.

In the new season of Scrubs, Zack Braff and Sarah Chalke will both be returning for six episodes, while Donald Faison, John C. McGinley and Neil Flynn will all return as regulars, reports THR. Apparently, the show will get some retooling with Braff and Chalke’s episodes helping the transition.  If all goes well, we can likely expect a version of Scrubs to continue long into the future.

Dollhouse was granted a 13 episode second season, regardless of low ratings. The show really hit a good stride starting with its 5th episode and continued to get better all the way through its awesome season finale “Omega”. I can’t wait to see where Whedon takes the series next year.

Also just renewed: Better Off Ted and Castle (a Nathan Fillion show getting a second season? Now that is shocking!)

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

There were a lot of great TV Moments last week, these are my favorites. On How I Met Your Mother, Ted runs into Stella. Is she the “Mother”? Maybe, but I don’t think so. On The Big Bang Theory, Penny called out Leonard’s name while making out with Stuart. Over on Castle, Castle was asked why he doesn’t watch detective shows on TV rather than following Becket around. He said something like all they do is play with their sunglasses. Which is making fun of time slot rival CSI Miami‘s character Horatio Cane. Dollhouse had a bunch of great lines like when Alpha holds a gun towards Caroline/Echo’s harddrive with her original imprint and he says ‘I’ll blow your brains out’. The best line was when Topher and Ballard are talking about the doll’s souls and Topher says something along the lines of ‘we keep them in a jar with our fireflies’.

On SNL, Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg reprise their dick-in-a-box roles with Motherlover.

On Bones, Booth talked to Baby Stewie at the sperm bank.

And finally, on David Letterman, Leonard Nimoy presented the “Top Ten Lines Never Before Said in a ‘Star Trek‘ Film.”

What will be this weeks favorite moments? Will it be Prison Break’s two hour finale? Who will Michael choose, Sara or Lincoln? Or Leonard Nimoy as William Bell on Fringe or No Doubt on Gossip Girl or maybe Motley Crue and Zack on Bones or the Apocalypse on Supernatural or Doomsday battling Clark on Smallville?

What were your favorite TV moments last week?

Dollhouse on FOX, Finale

Tonight at 9pm on Fox, the first season of Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse comes to a close. The series started slowly, but really hit a stride and has gotten better with each episode. Last week’s introduction of Alpha (played by Whedon alumnus Alan Tudyk) was awesome and I can’t wait to see where it goes tonight. In addition to the Alpha storyline coming to a head, Ballard’s investigation reaches a conclusion.  With no word on a second season pick up, this might end up being the series finale.

TV Flipped Column with PJ Flip

Did anyone else think that Friday nights episode of Dollhouse should have been the series premiere of the show?

All of the episodes before it just weren’t that good. It wasn’t a show that I had to see. It was just a show that I’d catch whenever on the internet, only watching because it starred Eliza Dushku. “Man on the Street”, was more the vision Whedon had for the show, while the other episodes were what Fox wanted. Fox should have just let Joss Whedon do what he wanted, because it’s much better. If you stopped watching the show after the first few episodes, start watching again with “Man on the Street” and forget the other episodes.

Whedon knows what he’s doing. Look how many stars on TV came from the Buffy Universe; Faith (Eliza Dushku) is on Dollhouse, Willow (Alyson Hannigan) is on How I met Your Mother, Angel (David Boreanez) is on Bones, Caleb (Nathan Fillion) is on Castle, Oz (Seth Green) created and voices Robot Chicken, he also is on Family Guy, Fred (Amy Acker) is on Dollhouse, Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg) did a bunch of episodes on Gossip Girl, Spike (James Marsters) did a bunch of Smallville episodes, Cordelia (Charisma Carpentar) did some Greek episodes, Kendra (Bianca Lawson) has been on the last few episodes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Principle Wood (DB Woodside) went from principle to president on 24, even Buffy (Sarah Michelle Gellar) is returning to TV with a new show.

Speaking of Bones and Family Guy, I read of a crazy crossover on the shows over on ew’s website. Booth (Boreanez) has a medical scare and hallucinates that he’s in Quahog (where Family Guy takes place) and meets baby Stewie. That sounds great, but you know what would have been better? If Booth hallucinated himself saving Buffy from vampires and Buffy confused Booth for Angel.

We’re a day late due to some tech issues, but we are back online and ready to roll.  I hope you enjoy your Monday…
