It has been a while since we took a trip into The Pit and I can honestly say that I’ve missed writing the column. What started as a way to throw out some opinions on various news stories turned into a fun way to spotlight multiple topics without the need to do a full blown articles on any of the subjects. I can’t promise that I’ll be able to write this column daily, but I’m going to try to make it a weekly thing.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is getting closer and closer (the movie is only a little more than 6 months away!!!). New photos from the movie has been released online, you can check them out in a Gallery on the movie’s official website (the site also features the movie’s trailer and some other goodies).

A new rumor cropped up today via Heroic Hollywood that Warner Brothers is so trilled with Ben Affleck’s performance that they want even more Batman in the film and are working to make that happen. Personally I hope they don’t over do it. Sometimes, less is more. If the movie is working and Batman is the standout, keep it that way. Don’t try to force more of a good thing, just let it happen organically. Either way, I’ll be seeing  Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice on opening night.

Unfortunately, Hugh Jackman is sticking to his story that Wolverine III will be his last movie as the beloved gruff X-Man. On the plus side, there is rumor has it that he has a role (or cameo) in the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, so while Wolverine III might be his last ride as the hero, it will not be the only movie we have to look forward to with Jackman in the role.

Another awesome rumor is that we will see the return of Victor Creed, aka Sabretooth, in the new solo Wolverine outing. Creed was played by ex-wrestler Tyler Mane in X-Men, but recast with Liev Schreiber in the prequel X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Schreiber was easily the best part of a otherwise disappointing first Wolverine solo outing, but I’d welcome seeing him have another go at the villain. Hopefully the material in the new movie will be up to par (it better be if its the last time we’ll see Jackman as the Wolverine.

We are just a month and a half away from the premiere of Ash vs Evil Dead on STARZ! I can not wait to see Bruce Campbell return to the iconic role and face-off with a new crop of Deadites!

The series has a new official description: “Ash vs Evil Dead follows Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Yahoo Movies have gotten their hands on a couple new still images from the upcoming X-Men spinnoff, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.  Click the above image to check them out!

With direction by Edward Zwick (Blood Diamond), this WWII drama from Paramount Vantage stars Daniel Craig, Liev Schreiber, and Jamie Bell as Jewish brothers who escape Nazi-occupied Poland and help free captive Jews during the Holocaust. The movie, which is based on a true story, opens in limited release this weekend.

Lots of cool stuff is happening, here are a few things to read with your morning latte or tea.

• Five new promo pictures have been released for the X-Men spin-off Wolverine. I can’t wait to see Hugh Jackman slash through a new crop of villains. (Spoiler TV)

• NBC and Chuck have teamed up for a ton of addictive mini games based on the show. The newest one is Sniper School. (NBC)

• God, I hope this crappy sequel to Beverly Hills Cop doesn’t get made. (Latino Review)

• I’m not sure about you, but I suffer from “TiVo Guilt”. In fact, I feel like I should be watching something right now instead of writing this… (CNN)

I started off my panels at Comic-con with the Fox panel which promised both Keanu Reeves and Mark Wahlberg, and then threw a cherry on top with a surprise visit from Hugh Jackman! Keep reading for a rundown of the 20th Century Fox Panel.

The Day the Earth Stood Still
Director Scott Derickson came out with cast members Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. Keanu talked about what it’s like to play an emotionless alien (heh) and Derickson talked about modifying, but still doing justice to the original 1951 film. They assured us that there would be a Gort (though there previously hadn’t been a sign of him in the released footage), but they had taken liberties in updating the space ship. To be honest I can’t get on board with this film. The original is a classic and there was more violence in the three clips they showed during the panel than the entire original film.

Max Payne
This movie looks like it’ll be this year’s Shoot Em Up. It’s got intense and stunning action, but with a little tongue in cheek. I’m not quite sure where the demons fit in (I guess I didn’t get that far in the video game), but Mila Kunis is hot and Mark Wahlberg makes an awesome Max Payne. The film looks like it’s shot very uniquely and they mentioned that they were implementing technology of a new-to-the-industry slow motion camera called Phantom to recreate the “bullet time” of the video game. Mark Whalberg, Mila Kunis and Ludacris were all there to talk about the film. Whalberg was really funny, but was also majorly into the self promotion. I think he mentioned every single film he’s been in during that panel throughout different stories and references.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine
Everyone was getting up to leave the panel when…surprise! Hugh Jackman came bounding out onto the stage saying he literally just stepped off a plane from Australia. They’d just wrapped Wolverine, and he’d walked off the set with a handful of footage and hopped on a flight to Comic-con. Before he showed it, Jackman hopped off the stage, high fiving the crowd as he made his way through to shake the hand of Len Wein, creator of Wolverine, for starting his career. Jackman seems so humble, gracious, and like an all around awesome guy. He was so enthusiastic about the film and he really built the crowd up. Then he showed some amazing footage that gave us a great look at the Wolverine/Sabertooth (Liev Schreiber) relationship, as well as a glimpse of other mutants in the flick such as the Blob, Deadpool, and Gambit. The crowd went absolutely nuts for it.
