mila kunis is beautifulMila Kunis has been cast in Warner Brothers’ post-apocalyptic western, The Book of Eli. She joins Denzel Washington and Gary Oldman in this film about a warrior (Washington) who must fight across the country while protecting a book that might be the key to saving humanity.

The film is being helmed by Albert and Allen Hughes, the team behind 2001’s lackluster graphic novel adaptation From Hell. The brothers also wrote and directed Menace II Society and Dead Presidents.

The film starts shooting in January, so we shouldn’t expect to see it until January of 2010 at the earliest. Personally, I don’t like Denzel that much, but I have an undying love for Kunis and Oldman.  Add that to my love of westerns (even weird sci-fi westerns) and my butt just might be in the theater on opening day.

NBC and Heroes have teamed up for an all new webseries, Heroes: Destiny, that takes place within the show’s super powered universe.  Part one, titled “Let Us Pray”, follows a young man named Santiago who discovers that he isn’t like most people. What will he do with his new found powers? Will he become a hero or a villain? You’ll have to watch to find out!

Written by Daniel Way with pencils by Paco Medina, Deadpool #4 is the first part of “Say ‘Hi’ to the Bad Guy”. This two part story is a much better starting point for the new series which unfortunately began smack in the middle of Marvel’s universe wide crossover event “Secret Invasion”.  I’ve always liked Deadpool, aka the Merc with a Mouth, because hes a fun character who is usually thrown into off the wall (and over the top) situtations.

Marvel’s official description: His mission in “Secret Invasion” completed, Deadpool goes back to business as usual, completely unaware that he’s been sold up the river by a villain of incalculable guile — a villain who won’t soon forget — or forgive — Wade’s sins. As the Skrull War winds to its climactic conclusion, the Merc with a Mouth has no idea that the worst for him is yet ahead.

The issue comes out on November 19. Click these thumbnails to check out the full pages.

Variety is reporting that NBC has pulled the plug on their Christian Slater spy drama, My Own Worst Enemy.  Airing after Heroes on Monday nights, the series has been doing very poorly in the ratings.  With other channels picking up shows with ratings that would normally be canceled, I’m a bit surprised by this axing.  I’d think that with more time the fan base could have expanded, especially with Slater in the lead. Oh well.

FOX’s long running comedy show MadTV was also canceled this week, and rumored to be very close are NBC’s Lipstick Jungle, ABC’s Pushing Daisies, and FOX’s Prison Break.

Terminator Salvation doesn’t hit theaters until May 22, 2009, but fans (myself included) are craving any and everything from the new entry in the Terminator series.  It is a constant mix of excitement (the Comic-Con footage looked pretty good) and nerves (is McG really directing this?).

Earlier this week, a behind the scenes featurette and concept art for some of the new killing machines were leaked online. The video was quickly removed from the web, but a few of the pictures are still floating around, you can view them at CanMag.

For some strange reason, it really does not feel like the weekend. Anyhows, here are a few articles and videos to keep you busy with your morning coffee, tea, hot coca, or whatever you might prefer.

  • JCVD is out in limited release in New York City! Next week it expands to six more cities. Time has an excellent look at the new film starring the Muscles from Brussels in a role unlike anything he has ever been in. (Time)
  • No Good TV has an exclusive behind the scenes look at Repo! The Genetic Opera. (NGTV)
  • FOX has released a trailer for their two hour 24 TV movie, 24: Redemption.  Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) beats up a whole bunch of new bad guys… (Variety)
  • It is pretty much official, Brett Ratner is going to wreck another franchise. (THR)

Warner Brothers have released another awesome poster for their upcoming adaptation of Watchmen.  Click on the poster to enlarge…
